The Time of Troubles

Unread post by Rinzler »

This is entirely random, and not relevant in our timeline until 2022 (1358 DR). Understanding that we "will cross that bridge when we get there" what exactly would the plan be for this? I may be off on the lore but doesn't magic go away and the Gods live among mortals?

Magic not working on the server during the ToT period would be awesome and I'd love to see that happen.

I believe Divine Magic & The Weave are are nullified. Every one would probably make Shadow Adepts assuming the Shadow Weave would still be functional .

It's a little different than you describe. Divine Magic only works within X radius of the Avatar form of the God. And the Art magic from the Weave goes absolutely chaotic, so...you can wield it, but expect some crazy shit!

Yes, this is what I'm eager for. The RP for my character after losing her magic would be gold. Wouldn't be RCRing.

Are we going to have any Avatars around here? :D Except for that stuff that goes on at Boerskyr eventually.

Bumping for relevance.

Time of troubles is just a few days away and staff confirmed they will be going forward with it on server.

I am very curiois which deities will die and what would happen near the sword coast.

Yes I would really hope people dont just RCR their characters. That would be rather disappointing and really defeat the purpose and fun of the RP involved.

I think this will be an awesome change and create some epic RP. As I do have mostly low magic characters, it will be interesting how powerful they can become without magic in the world.

Much fun and havoc to be had by all!

One could also just not log in for 3-4 RL months.

Or, if you ever wanted to try out that Barbarian character…ToT on BGTSCC is a good moment!!!

Hear no ToT, see no ToT, there is no ToT…for your PC!!

Question...

If Helm remains at his post during ToT, do his clerics retain their normal powers?

This is my personal opinion of course, but I think it is unrealistic to expect our playerbase to enjoy lack of magic for practically the entirety of ToT. Seems taking that hard stance would be unhealthy for the server. I would personally consider it somewhat interesting, but I think those of us who do are in a significant minority. But perhaps I am misreading the majority?

Things are of course not set in stone here, so we'll see where it leads us.

Arcane magic doesn't canonically go away, it just becomes wild magic. Divine magic does go away (barring avatar proximity), but I did mention the possible compromise of making that go wild, too.

As long as Divine Healing spells remain accessible, without question or justification, just freely as they were now. I personally don't particularly care about Arcane Magic's reliability. Just need guaranteed access to the holy triad.
