The problem with PTWF is dedicating so much dex (25) for the feat, I believe the best way to make it worth it is using greater flurry from monk and using kama dual wield. But the damage is lacking, best option for PTWF would be ranger, unless you can get other ways to deal damage while dedicating 25 points to dex.

Well, you 'can' be a ranger...I went with a fighter/rogue/shadowdancer., then put a lot into extra sneak attacks. Out of stealth, that's a ton of damage, even against crit immune or undead with epic precision.
Since you're going weapon finesse, I don't see any problem in putting 25 points into dex, unless you have something less focused in mind for your build.

Others will likely chime in with their stats on damage etc but you can do some decent damage and fade away again, coming back for a second round, which usually finishes things, if the first round didn't.

Just my opinion, but if ptwf is what you're going for and rapier, there's good potential there.
Some people say if you can't do something right, don't do it at all...I say maybe you just need more practice...?

I’d argue that PTWF isn’t needed unless going for a Sneak Attack HiPSing build. Greater TWF + BAB 26 will give you plenty of hits (and those last 2 attacks rarely connect anyway in Epics).

Against a favored enemy type though, PTWF on a Ranger is arguably the best DPS in the game, because you are hitting with at least 6-8 of those attacks, and that is a lot of damage in the right build.

Sure, going Ranger PTWF with BoE is great...maybe too great!?!

But if one does stop at GTWF, there are some Builds like Bard/Dread Pirate/Tempest/X that can grant +4 or higher Inspiration, which is great and applies to all foes (and other perks along the way).

And, you won’t have that awful AC that comes with Ranger! 8-)

With the gear power creep over the past couple of years, it should be possible for Ranger to get into 40s for AC without sacrificing too much power. That is probably low by today's standards, but its fine for PvE DPS build. ;)

Ranger AC is not a problem at all.

30 ranger AC
10base+1LoH+2Natures Ward+3tumble+6mithral chain+4dex+4armor enhnacment+13(def(spell)/dodge/(spell)nat armor)+6ICE = 49 AC, thats assuming no UMD or potions, which allow you to get near 60AC if you really want it. shield +4, +2IMA, +4more nat armor tortoise shell. You can grab Athkatlan for an extra +4 AC even.

There are also a bunch of classes you can go 3-5 in and get a few extra AC bumps while keeping full CL of ranger. Cavestalker, tempest, thief acrobat, bard.

RE: Ranger
UMD/potions are useless in Epic Areas that have a mage/Gr. Dispel. So many Bosses use Mords.

49 AC should be enough. But it isn’t, definitely not for soloing! And honestly, AC is important but DR and/or concealment is really where it’s at.

If I build a melee character, it’s gotta have 50+ AC oR it’ll fall short in the epic areas.

Fine 24ranger/6cavestalker, same AC above except +2AC from Cavestalker, and Athkatlan for +4AC. Undispelable 55AC and HiPS in more (though still not enough) areas.

Best be happy now *shakes fist menacingly*.

In my experience, I think PTWF is overrated and only worth in sneaky builds. But yeah, you can use it in a melee fighter build, like the ranger build they are talking about, it will work.
Something that I know on this server from my own experience is the Fighter/Dreadpirate/Bard path. You can pick 3 levels in Cleric for extra feats too. I did it with Harpina than I RCRed to something similar, droping PTWF because I thought wasn't worthing, now she have AT for +4 AC and other stats. The weapon specialized was Short sword . She can reach 58AC, 56AB, steadfast determination, full UMD, decent Will saves with items (Ref and Fort are high) and other things. She can solo most content of the server.

The build Valefort mentioned works really good and some variations with Human can work well too.

Harpina- Reformed pirate [ACTIVE AGAIN]
Joel - Mielikki's bear [Retired]
Babuu - The Frost Gnome [Temporarily Retired]

A Ranger with 49 AC is good if you are DPS. Enemies shouldn't last longer than 2 rounds this they are Favored. The only thing that could be bad is if a mage or caster gets the jump on you with something of the Will Save variety. That is the weakness of ranger.
