elloes,
I am contemplating a ranged touch attack focused arcane character, specifically Wiz (6), Rogue (4), Dagger Spell Mage (10) and Archmage (10).
EDIT: if it is correct what easterncheese writes below, replace Dagger Spell Mage (10) with Arcane Trickster (10).
been reading the wiki, the class descriptions when logging on to the server and the forums. i dont find it clear at all what can and cannot be done.
these questions are for server staff and/or admins who actually know the answers, thank you.
1. on the wiki page it states that sneak attack works with ranged touch attack, i found this under the description of the arcane trickster PrC. is this applicaple to all characters using spells with ranged touch, or is it only the arcane trickster specificly? (like wizards, warlocks etc. who are not arcane tricksters)
2. it also says the following under the arcane trickster: "Sneak Attack damage now applies to ranged touch attack spells that already deal damage when cast from a spellbook." does this mean that only spells cast from a spellbook can add sneak attack damage? does it mean that only the wizard arcane trickster can do this? so warlocks, sorcerers and bards cannot take advantage of added sneak attack damage to their spells? could someone explain the mechanic pls?
3. does sneak attack apply to ranged touch abilities like: acidic splatter (feat - max 9d6 dam), clap of thunder (feat - max 9d6 dam) and invisible needle (feat - max 9d4 dam)? all of these feats allow continous casting with cooldown, as long as you have spells memorized/left that allows this to happen. technically if you are a wizard, these abilities are based on your spellbook, can i add my sneak attack to these feats?
4. same question as number three, except, can i add my Dagger Spell Mages Arcane Throw damage to the feats described above? (acidic splatter (feat), clap of thunder (feat) and invisible needle (feat))?
5. the Archmages ability of "Arcane Fire" looks really promising damage-wise for ranged touch attack (up to 19d8 magical damage with possibility of crit). can sneak attack be added to arcane fire? can i add the Dagger Spell Mages Arcane Throw damage to the damage of the Arcane Fire?
i am asking cause mobs on this server have a lot of HP, and if there is no scaling in the amount of damage i can do, then the build isnt viable.
i tried something similar before with a sorcerer who was an evocation specialist. worked levels 1-20, after that it was useless, needed 3 spells per opponent to kill them, even with reignite that was not viable.
now i know i could test the above by playing the game, but i think it should be possible to flesh out and plan a character ahead of time.
it is expensive xp-wise to RCR over and over just to do testing myself. i have a limited amount of time to play.
i would also encourage staff to update the wiki and/or forums to make it more accurate.
thank you in advance,
cheers

Re: Questions - ranged touch character
I will answer your questions as i know them from my experience, while you wait for more skilled players to reply.
1) RTA sneak attack is enabled by Arcane Trickster class and it only works for arcane casters, thus, warlocks do not wualify for this PrC and they don't get their sneak attack. It's for wizards/sorcerers and their resperive PrCs.
So, by default, noone can land a sneak attack with a spell.
2) it just means that spells with delayed damage and damage over time do not land sneak attacks, also, not scrolls/spell-like abilities. Only your prepared spells like acid arrow etc.
3) it does, as those, technically, are damaging arcane spells. I saw a person using such build about a year ago. If nothing changed, you can go for invisible needle with sneak attacks.
4) yes, your daggers damage is added to your spell damage. But it's about 10 average dmg increase for two daggers with 1d4 elemental damage each,
5) this one i possess no info, so i cannot help with that.
