Tool for writing books or updating your examines

Unread post by Orfeas »

It is often a pain to try write an examine or book ingame as there is no copy-paste functionality. This simple script allows you to copy-paste text from your computer's clipboard to the game, by providing the current contents of the computer's clipboard, as if they were typed on your keyboard directly.

To use this script you need to have the software autoit installed (an engine for executing scripts):
https://www.autoitscript.com/site/
If you do not wish to use this software, unfortunately you cannot use the script provided here as it is merely a text file on its own.

Download the script:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eyz9VA ... sy9Xf-HgE-

After installing the autoit software, you execute the script (either by double clicking on the file provided or right-clicking it and selecting "Run Script".

While the script is running you can do the following:
a) Press the END key on your keyboard to stop the script (the icon on your computer's taskbar should disappear notifying that the script is no longer running).
b) Press the DEL key on your keyboard to paste anything on the computer's clipboard (by selecting some text and choosing the "copy" option) into the current mouse cursor, for example into an open examine or conditional examine page, or an ingame book (as if you were typing it directly yourself).

NB: this script respects formatting, meaning if your copied text has "new lines" in it and you attempt to paste it into the chat window you will not get the results you are expecting (as the enter key will be pressed), only use it to paste single line messages into chat if you wish (for books and examines this is fine as they have a dedicated window open to edit).

If you notice anything out of the ordinary let me know and blame ... hmm ... Beshaba, blame them.

That's nice! Though as I recall AoS had made one and it's apart of his tools post on here, I use it on occasion as those kinds of things are so helpful!
