A great blade comes up for auction at a table in The Wide. A man with a Mulhorandi accent gestures toward it with a salesman's flair.

"Step right up and confront the Balor threat with forged Cold Iron! See how the blade shimmers! Note the filigree along the crossguard," He turns it this way and that, allowing the light to glint from the fine chasings. "This solid blade will cleave into a Balor's hide better than any other metal." His finger then taps on the pommel, where a massive onyx is inset. "There are so many wonderful details that a noble would be proud to carry this weapon into battle."

If asked, he says further inquiries can be sent to Soni'vaphra Anishtep.

"Bidding starts at 10,000 gold, and ends 24 hours after the last bid is placed. Good luck!"

A nervous sheen of sweat forms on the bald man's head, an obsequious smile forms as passersby ignore the fine sword. He continues his call for bids, his voice more high-pitched than before.

"The craftsmanship is beyond peer. The ore was mined in the forbidding hills above Phandalin, near Neverwinter. The makers' mark -- here along the crossguard -- incidate it was forged in the smithy operated by three Dwarven brothers."

"Would any of you brave knights step up and test its mettle? I am told it is perfectly balanced, although a man such as me cannot hope to lift it and display its majesty."

"I will lower the initial bid to 8,000 gold coin. Surely a steal" His eyes widen at the implication, "And to be absolutely clear we would not report it as such to the Fist and will provide a certificate of authenticity."

Jackard Marks, until then pondering shrewdly from a distance, would subtly offer the starting bid with a lazy wave of the hand and nod of the head.

The bald man raises his fist with a broad victorious smile, in acknowledgement of the bid. He points animatedly toward Jackard.

"The handsome man there, the one with good taste, with a starting bid at 8,000 gold! Do I hear 9,000?"

"SOLD!" the bald man roars with a flourish toward Jackard.
