A bearded man in his late twenties tacks up a few flyers in the city of Baldur's Gate.

Greetings,

I have in my possession an unopened Dusty Tome.

Having checked with the local tax office, and Merchant Exchange it is my understanding that these books are quite valuable.

As a result I am putting mine for auction.

Bids will start 50,000 gold pieces, with an immediate sale if an offer exceeding 120,000 gold pieces is made.

The auction will remain open for five days, or until the aforementioned offer for immediate sale is met.

The bearded man returns to Maltz's shop.
"Greetings, Maltz. There has been an offer for the book. A lady named Alyssia has offered 56,000 gold for it."
He leaves after paying Maltz a modest retainer for keeping track of further offers.

Maltz would receive a sending from Corneille de Locke offering 80,000 gold pieces for the book.

Seeing the adjusted and new price point, the Heartwarder would then increase her price to 81,000

Locke, this time in person, would make an offer for 90,000 gold pieces.

The High Lady simply retorts with, "91,000!"

A tall bald woman strides forward and declares to Matlz:

"If it is unopened as you say, I will bid 121,000 gold. I believe that meets the criteria for an immediate sale?"

She then draws up a short contract indicating payment of 121,000 gold pieces upon confirmation of the tome's status. She signs the contract in an angular, illegible script. The only visible letters are...

S... A...

Beneath is her name and title: Soni'vaphra Anishtep, Circle Leader for Evocation with the Thayan Enclave in Baldur's Gate.

The bearded man returns to Maltz some time after. Seeing the buyout bid having been made, he leaves a single comment at the bottom of the flyer, to mark that it has been sold.
