Many posters are tacked up by employees of Derringer Mercantile in Baldur's Gate, Soubar and Greenest.
They read:

"Derringer Mercantile will pay -you- 40 gold coins for every pound of ectoplasm turned in. Must not be fouled.
Reliable hunters will be hired on for other, more lucrative tasks.
Leave notice here and we will arrange a meeting with one of our representatives"
