Player Survey Results. Dec 2021, end of year.

The results of our two survey questions over the last few weeks are in. As answers and participants have tapped off, I am going to assume we got the majority of the active playerbase over the last month.

When asked:

Would you be in favour if DM’s began to enforce more consequences in the world due to player actions and RP overall as a rule? ( Example: alignment shifting, map changes, NPC reactions in the world. )

You guys were given 3 choices. Here's the percentiles:

Yes, I think DM's should enforce consequences as a rule. I enjoy the RP I can get from this both negative, neutral, and positive: 82.3%

No, I don't want to see consequences have DM enforcement: 6.5%

Yes, but only if the consequences are positive for my character or the DM gets my permission: 11.3%

When Asked:

What is your favourite type of DM engagement? (You can select up to 3 choices.)

You guys were given multiple choices:

Personal DM Quest (Center on your own character and their friends.): 17.9%

Larger scale, server wide events. Think: Devil War previously. with a higher combat intensity. 7.1%

Medium scale events, (5-10 participants) with a heavier focus on Role-Play: 22.9%

Combat heavy or "dungeon" style events (5-15 participants.) with less emphasis on Role Play: 3.6%

Larger scale, server wide, but Role-Play focused events (Think: Nightgale Vampires of 2020.): 9%

Political Intrigue, high Role Play focused on politics (Think: Ducal Court.): 10%

Smaller Scale ( 1-5 participants.) Heavily Role-Play focused, but DM generated on the fly in the world: 20%

Player Created events with DM aid (Think: White Mask Theater plays, or guild hosted parties.) Mostly driven by player RP in the world.: 9.3%


Disclaimer: these results will not effect how DM's run events (unless they choose to take this information into account.) and will be unlikely to effect server policy in any meaningful way. I realize as well that these questions cannot possibly capture every single aspect of every individual persons opinions on things, and there really is no way to do that perfectly, but this does give us all some idea of what you guys like or dont like, or what you prefer or do not prefer in these instances and is pretty interesting to see. Each person could only vote once, and it was completely anonymous. We got around 70 respondents in each poll, give or take one or two. So it is a fairly conductive survey of our more active players.
