Player Housing System

Unread post by Administrator »

All,

Please consider the process below as current for all Player Housing requests. These are subject to clarifications, updates, and changes as needed.

==========
Eligibility
  • A character must exist for at least four months. The timer starts when either a bio or journal is posted to the forums here or a confirmed private bio is submitted to the DM Team;
  • A Player may only own one house and it may only be owned by one of their characters;
  • Housing is non-transferable;
  • If player would like to relinquish existing house to pursue housing on a different character, they may do so but will incur all fresh costs and requirements.
General Rules
  • Players must provide their own area for a house;
  • There are no discounts or price reductions;
  • All player-made housing areas will be reviewed for adequate content before being accepted;
  • Player Houses may be used a stores and places of business so long as it makes in-character sense;
  • All houses must be Standard/Mundane dwellings, businesses, etc. No extraplanar spaces and the like;
  • The Player owner must enter their house once every 120 days or it will become archived;
  • Players cannot select or call dibs on a location without submitting a house and paying the fee;
  • Only scripts allowed are lighting scripts, placable_on_used_jump_player, kemo chairs and those necessary for upgrades (see below);
  • Storage will come standard for each area;
  • The option to block incoming/outgoing teleportation will be allowed as standard, however all IC wards must be coordinated with the DM team. Player housing key may bypass these blocks.
- Unarchiving
  • An archived house may be unarchived by payment of the full installment price, as well as 01 RP Forum Post of the PC owner made since return, be it a Rumour or Journal Entry.
  • If the player foresees an extended period away from the server, they may inform the Dev and DM team through PMs that they'll be inactive. This ensures that if the player later wishes their house to be unarchived, only half of the cost will be issued and no RP post is needed.
  • If when archived another house was built in the spot that the archived house was previously on, the returning player will have to decide on a new spot within the same or adjacent map, at the builder team's discretion.
NOTE: Players found to be violating any of these rules may forfeit their existing player housing as well as opportunities for future housing.
Process
  • Player sends PM to Developer group with link to already-built map (.erf file required), screenshot of door/house to use in respective city, and link to qualifying character bio.
  • Request is documented and vetted internally. Verification that door is not already in use, and that player is eligible.
  • Map is vetted at builder discretion. No hidden objects, hidden scripts, or sketchy additions snuck in. This will disqualify user from housing.
  • Player sent agreement, replies with sign off.
  • Player pays gold to DM at a dev-determined price tag. DM documents payment internally.
  • Builder will upload, link doors, and create key to be added. This will not happen until gold is paid.
  • Player works with DM team to acquire said keys.
The areas will be added as soon as we can do so, but this will be done at the mercy of the update schedule, builder availability, and other factors.
Locations, Sizes, and Cost
  • Housing will be considered for any settlement, evaluated by the builder team for suitability. Factors will include exterior vs interior size, type of home constructed, etc. This will require working with developers and players in some cases as not every map is set up well for player housing.
  • Wilderness housing is available. This option requires a small exterior map (2x2 or 3x3) to be linked to an existing wilderness location, in addition to the structure interior. We will be evaluating these for quality as well as fit. Please propose before building.
  • Housing to be limited to 9 tiles total, with layout evaluated by build team for "fit". Some fantasy physics allowed, but no 9 story towers in a short building, or L shaped layouts for a square building for example, we expect it to make some sense. Keep the overall grid to a reasonable amount.
  • Cost for settlement housing is a base 300k + 25k per tile used.
  • Cost for wilderness housing is a base 500k + 25k per tile used.
Optional Upgrades

NPC Upgrade (Maximum of 1 NPC per Player House - Cost 100k)
  • Drink Merchant (Pre-determined store with a set of 10 drinks - player may provide the items at Builder team's discretion)
  • Food and Drink Merchant (Pre-determined store with a set of 5 drinks and a selection of 5 foods - player may provide the items at Builder team's discretion)
  • General Merchant (Can include potentially limited quantities of up to 10 items that already exist in the module. Munitions may have a count up to 20, while consumables and most basic items may be limited to 3 per item, this does not count against the 10 item limit, i.e. 20 arrows and 3 potions are considered 2 items, not 23 items)
  • Librarian (Using the in-game library sytem)
  • Healer (Healer NPCs may use a custom priest conversation, submitted with the area, and may cast up to Cure Moderate Wounds, Lesser Restoration and Remove Disease)
  • Other NPC with conversation tree (Conversation submitted with area, additional functions are not guaranteed but may be possible)

Functional Upgrades (Cost 100k each)
  • Cooking Station
  • Herbalist's Bench
  • Distilling Tools
  • Surgery Tools
  • KEMO Music Box
  • TKL Card Table
  • Fishing Waypoints (If body of water is present)
  • Stables
  • Bulletin Board
Note that chosen items, spells, conversations, etc, may be vetoed by the Builder Team when there are balance concerns or lack of in-character sense. Also note that animals without conversations do not count against the 1 NPC maximum, as they are seen as decorations, though overuse/misuse of them may result in the Builder Team reducing their amount or taking them out entirely. Requests/Suggestions for things not in the above lists may be accepted, please inquiry with the Builder Team!
Edit Jun/24/22 - Removed mention of temporary eligibility waivers
Edit Jul/15/22 - Added Fishing Waypoints as option upgrade to wilderness locations

Edit Mar/22/23 - Added information related to teleport blocks/IC ward coordination with DMs
