Belief and Immersion

Unread post by Samuel Jackson »

If you had the gods become mortals and walk around, why people complain that someone says they killed a balor or a dragon is that so immersion breaking but there are giant chickens and many other ridiculous things.

Why people want to say a character achievement breaks their realistic immersion? We aren't playing Peasant Simulator!

Well, the server largely goes by a "narrative 15", as in a lvl 30 PC is treated narratively as if it was lvl 15. Why? Because a real lvl 30 adventure is undoable in the server, a lvl 30 adventure is walking all around the continent, walking between planes every day, talking to gods on the regular, and that can't be done.

The basic balor is cr 20, that means 40 in our server (And they go higher). An ancient dragon would be around cr 42 in the server. So it is a break of the narrative 15, those creatures are supposed to be much stronger than they are in the server, also they're not a "common" creature. Like damn, our balor is literally just sitting on top of a mountain, that does not make justice to what a balor is supposed to be.

The Time of Troubles is literally a once in a lifetime event, so not really on the same basis of comparison. Also, no one killed a god - no one would be able to, only a power can kill a power.

Some ridiculousness is expected and fine, and funny, it is D&D after all, it's a game. But people put real effort, time and energy, into their characters and stories. So some stuff, like the break of narrative 15 in the "I kill a balor every day", is more impactful than a giant chicken.
Winter is coming... Or something like that, idk, you get the joke

Yes, it is ridiculous to kill a Balor, daily.

Yes, it is ridiculous to be able to carry unlimited gold coin on a Character.

Yes, it is ridiculous a PC cannot attack any NPC they want to.

BGTSCC is D&D on steroids. It is D&D like. BGTSCC is a COMPUTER game, a CRPG, and by design exists as a persistent world in infinity.

Luckily, as a player, one can ignore the bullshit and concentrate on whatever level of Story you want for your Character.

Luckily!!!
