BG Fog

Unread post by Valleriani »

I love the changes to BG but can we reduce the fog in the city?

The Steeps District is a big offender here. I get it's the docks and whatnot but it's like I'm walking in a spooky cemetery during a heavy storm.

It's just a bit much IMO, I believe it's also after entering the main gates too/etc but not as bad as this. I get it's for ambience and such but should be lessened if possible by a good deal.

Hello there,

I am sorry for the bad experience. The fog effect seems to be a recurring issue.

Next update will see the fog experience changed. The fog effects you actualy see here have been removed, as they cannot be lessened. They are as they are which means we either get it or not at all.

So they have been removed, and the fog effect has been directly emulated with the weather system. You won't have moving mists and fogs anymore, and the ambiance will be changed a little. In addition, with the weather system, vision had to be reduced so the fog experience can actually match the lore descriptions of the city. So you will not see as far as before, but you will not have overwhelming fog anymore.

I hope these changes will improve your experience,

Cheers, and thanks for your feedback,

Ashenie

I tried playing with my graphics settings to try and mitigate the fog to no avail. If you pan your camera more horizontal and close to the ground, it almost looks multi layered(a layer of fog at every "foot" of height, per se), and nothing I fiddled with seems to make it blend better.

I appreciate the intent, but perhaps the emulation with the weather will work out better for the time being, performance-wise. Thanks for all your hard work
