This is likely (definitely) due to the assassins spellbook being something amazingly awful for the devs to rework, which has been the case forever AFAIK.

Hence the reason that any and all spells in said spellbook are versions that are the same as they were numerous years ago.. IE: clairvoyance.

Although, I've heard that the detect poison spell now requires some investment in craft alchemy to function reliably/at all, which is kind of a head scratcher considering it's a spell/innate ability.

Basically: I have no idea how things work/what I'm rambling on about.

While not directly related to Darkness, there is an answer to the Detect Poison concern:
The spell detects the presence of poison or not on the targeted item, upon completion of the cast.
A DC 20 Wisdom or Craft (Alchemy) check is then needed to identify the specific poison by name.

She seems unusually interested in cursed items.
She has also been seeking a variety of gems and stones.

This will be fixed in the next update. These spells will now all use the same spell scripts that other classes use for them.
