Hey everybody! Been a few years and thought Id peak in here maybe find my old char or start a new one. Just wondered with state of server,
Whats the story of monk wis vs dex focus? Looking for pros/cons of each but also best build for each, key feats, build and prc optimization. Basically anything uou wanna share.
Thanks for any response and your time to anyone tjat feels like responding!

Hello, Bobbdydean!
Welcome back! There's a lot to unpack with such a short question. I would use this thread here to reference some ideas first.

I would also keep in mind that if you do a wis build, and are multiclassing. I believe the feat that works like weapon finesse but for wisdom for monks (Can't think of the name right now) becomes inactive if you more than 3 levels in difference from your monk and the multiclass class. Hope this helps! Good luck on your journey!

Nope. That is not how that works.
66% of your levels must be monk (and only monk) in order to benefit from Intuitive Attack. In other words, you need to budget for at least 20 monk levels to make it work.

^^ Ah sweet. I was thinking it would be you to jump in on this.

I ultimately went with more Dex, so I hadn't tried it myself on my monk.

And to be extra clear, this is for the entirety of the leveling process. Meaning, you need 2/3 of the builds current levels as Monk levels for Intuitive Attack to function.
If your build progression falls out of this 2/3 split, Intuitive Attack will stop working, and your build will fall to your STR mod.

That's the sort of post that makes me wish we had a +1 button or something.

Lately, I've been wishing we had one more.

I'm a fan of pure wisdom monks. Good AC, decent AB, good length on Blazing Aura, 40 SR comes in handy quite often, good Spot/Listen, max monk speed.
To really take advantage of dexterity on a monk, I feel like you have to multiclass, and then you lose out on all the level 30 monk goodies.
Pure monk doesn't have the fun intricacies of a complex multiclass build, it doesn't have Ao's DPS, and it can't tank Icehaupt. But it is a solid classic, IMO. <3

On this server? Wisdom. It’s just better all around vs. dex based monks which tend to need higher magic for their builds in order to outperform wisdom monks.
