Illyon, Herald of the Black Dawn - public profile

Unread post by TheBorderPrince »

This topic reflects the facts and rumours about the character that are obtainable ICly. Some of them are assumed that any interested party can learn and use as an RP hook unconditionally. Others, marked in yellow are conditional - with the condition noted in brackets. I'm leaving the judgement of whether the connditions are met to your own judgement, though - the more unattainable intel, which I'd like to have a higher degree of control of whether third parties can know it, simply won't be posted here.
Illyon, Herald of the Black Dawn

Name

Illyon. (People who met him before Time of Troubles may remember him using a last name - Vendrian. He did not use it since the Godswalk though, introducing himself only by his first name, titles and allegiances.)

Titles and Aliases

Herald of the Black Dawn - self proclaimed, initially with no true bearing, later legitimised as the title of leadership after Cyric proclaimed him to be the head priest of the Fields of the Dead region.

The Godcaller - by some others, after the events of the Day of the Godslaying, 1359 DR.

The Favoured One - also by some others, possibly regarding the same event.

Allegiances

Curent:

Leader of the small, but growing cult of Cyric based primarily in the northern Fields of the Dead, centered around Soubar and the Boareskyr Bridge.

One of the two commanders of the Crimson Watch.

Past:

A member of Iriaeboran mercenary company, the Black Talon, between 1355 and 1357 DR (for those affiliated or members of the same company during specified time - or those who were told this IG)

Background

He says little of his past - but it seems to be relatively established that Iriaebor in the Sunset Vale is his hometown.

(Those familiar with his original family name and Iriaeboran society) might connect him to a affluent middle-clas merchant family of Chessentan origin, the Vendrians. The family is defunct now, with the older generation succumbing to ilness/old age, while of the three children, the oldest son was murdered in mysterious circumstances, while both the younger son and daughter are missing. The son was a member of the Black Talon before dissapearing, the daughter left with no apparent reason and no trace.

Some might remember him as amoral, but ordinary sellsword wandering the Coast around 1357 and early 1358 DR (If met ingame then)

(Those familiar with seedier elements of Westgate's society) might recognize in him a pit fighter and organised crime enforcer active there around mid 1358 DR

He was concealing his religious affiliation for some time, finally dropping the mask after establising himself in Soubar in the latter half of 1359 DR

Most known for being responsible of organising the celebration of the Day of the Godslaying in Eleint 1359 DR, which ended with appearance of an avatar of the Prince of Lies himself. Rumour post about said event

Likely author of the Dysangelion (Chessentan for the Fell Message), series of Cyricist pamphlets appearing around Western Heartlands in late 1359 DR.

(Those initiated know that) he also penned a revised and expanded version of said work.

Abilities and powers

Powerful divine caster, though differing from ordinary cleric - it seems he is one of those directly facoured by a deity without actively seeking for it. Either way, his powers seem to be directed into three areas: direct, hand-to-hand combat enhanced by the divine favour, divinations, and "diplomacy" of the aggressive and deceptive kinds.

Abode

Shares his time between Spire of the Black Dawn next to the Boareskyr Bridge, and Ebon Keep in Soubar

Miscellaneous

Frequent visitor to Darkhold.

Habitual Ziran user.

Murdered or ritually sactrificed a handful of people in Soubar, though all of them were either lowlifes no one will miss, or purchased slaves.

Often frequents Boareskyr Bridge, especially the ruins of Bridgefort.

Emanates oppressive aura.

In open conflict with the remnants of Myrkulite cult from the Black Abbey.
The chosen few, the chosen knew
Spelled out in the stars His prophecy
Raise your fists, now you exist
The bell of doom strikes the thirteenth hour

Illyon, Herald of the Black Dawn, favoured of Cyric,
Commander of the Crimson Watch
