In prevention and healing
Forseen dangers :
- Degradation of physical condition of "Crimson Spice" users :
The drug taking precedence, the users could get physical effect aside from the direct effect of the drug, due to dependency. Lack of sleep, starvation, lack of energy... Additionally, the potential for overdose, and thus death, could make this degradation deadly.
- Degradation of psychological condition of "Crimson Spice" users :
The drug becoming a focus, the users could get psychological effects aside from the direct effect of the drug, due to deendency. Obsession, compulsiveness, agressivity... Additionally, the potential permanent psychological damages, in terms of dissociation, madness, and other afflictions are not excluded, in relation to the other degradations stated.
- Degradation of social and economical condition of "Crimson Spice users :
The drug becoming a matter fo importance as dependency grows, the users could spend much if not all of their money into acquiring it, could focus on it at the risk of losing their employment, could focus on it instead of the needed care to be given to children, could focus on it and become isolated. Violence in families could rise because of the effect of the addiction overshadowing other aspects of family life. The rise of crime and violence is not excluded in larger scales to ensure proper money to fund the addiction.
- Exposition to dark network of the "Crimson Spice" users :
The more dependency grows, the more demand grows. It means more agents, more distribution, and higher prices. When users are out of money, they can exchange all sorts of service, falling into a spiral they cannot control anymore. They can additionally suffer from stigmatizations.
Populations Exposed :
- Vulnerable People :
Those who have fragile health, infants or venerable people, those who were previously outcast, already in a very poor physical and psychological condition are at risk of death from either effect if there are some, or dependency mechanisms themselves.
- Pregnant women :
Devotions to Saint Jasper of the Rocks and Zaphkiel lead to care for the pregnant women who could become users, and fetuses that could develop symptoms, or increase of miscarriage.
- Children :
Children can be used and absued in all sorts of form, from simple tasks in partaking the network to becoming themselves addicted, or being used by adults or parents user of "Crimson Spice" to perform services in exchange of drug.
- Isolated People :
The mechanism of isolation often percieved during dependancy can lead to isolation, breaking ties, breaking families, exposition to more violence.
Prevention and Healing :
- Medicine & Sanctified Magic :
Herbal preparation such as Ivy Leaves and Bloodpurge for desintoxication, Bloodflowers and Fleshwort to mend injuries from violence, and Saint John's Wort and Juniper Berries to help treat mind afflictions on the long term.
Magic and sanctified magic could help in most extreme, exposed and vulnerable cases, and for infants.
Beds in the infirmary could be used to treat the wounded, of the addicted.
- Shelters and Food distribution :
Warning our shelters on the potential rise of homelessness and vangrancy could help. Writing a letter to the Flaming Fist Company and City Watch could also hep us ensure that people arrested for vagrancy could be examined, for their health and for other issues.
The orphanage could also welcome people in need during the day for counsel, and to help treat the exposed infants, and the pregnant mothers.
Rationing food for both, winter and the potential rise of vagrancy could help the most vulnerable avoid death in the claws of addiction, when it clouds the mind.
- Reaching of the population :
Falling into the spiral of addiction is always a story, crossing fate with precious wounds. The most vulnerable are therefore exposed. Reaching them, personally, and talking about the risks, offering help yet without forcing them, and letting them know that our lantern is alight can probably offer solace. They shall not be alone.
An open letter could be posted in the Temple entrance and in Baldur's Mouth to let people know they can find help.
