Personal description
Posture:Though she is quite short, Korina stands proud. She walks with confidence as one that owes nothing to anyone, a sense of independence that those who know other water genasi would find familiar. By height alone she would easily blend amongst a crowd, but her unique features, combined with this unwavering confidence, make it impossible for her to hide herself.
Charisma:Though of a strange race, she still manages to exude charm. Of fair face (to those not hindered by the blue skin), clear and pleasant tone of voice, an uplifting sense of self and an aura that inspires others to be just as confident, it is quite easy to like her.
Style:Always in blues, greens and silvers, as if imitating the ocean and the foam from when the waves reach the shore, Korina also has a strong sense of style. She dresses herself in clothes that complement her, be every day flowy attires, highly formal dresses or even ready-for-battle metal and leather. Beyond the visual, Korina always smells of the sea breeze, though if it is a particular perfume or simply an attribute of her ancestry, is a secret she doesn't tell.
Personality:
Patient but unwielding, with moments of pure calm and others of storm-like fury, it is clear that her heritage shows itself in her personality. Like the rivers and the seas, she is persistent and headstrong, she never makes an attempt to hide herself, and speaks her mind with strong opinions. Still, to every storm and high tide there must be a period of stillness, the gentler and quieter parts of her shine when among friends, or when she sees something beautiful that catches her eye and the world around her disappears to her, leaving only calm seas to sail through until that peace is once more disturbed.
Baubles:
She carries with her many accessories and oddities
Pearl earrings she is always seen wearing.
A journal bound in sharkskin that she never lets out of her sight.
A small, ornate dagger that seemingly has seen no use.

Additional information
Primary language:
ChessentanNative tongue of Chessenta and its cities.
Secondary languages:
CommonAs any that seek to trade or travel, learning the Common Tongue is essential.
AquanAlong with many other features, her heritage made learning Aquan easy, it came to her through little study.
CelestialDue to her clerical studies, learning to read and write Celestial was a must, though she can't speak it.
Religious views
UmberleeHer patron, the Wavemother, the one to fear and respect. Korina's life is the sea, so she has grown into the faith of Umberlee, and now the goddess allows the genasi her blessings. Many think of Umberlee as simply a petty, evil goddess... Those people are uneducated, for those in the grace of Umberlee are also in the grace of the Sea, and they will have fair winds, calm waves and quiet skies. As any Umberlant, Korina pays respect to the goddess, who then grants her the freedom to move through her domain. A relationship Korina sees as intrinsic to her heritage.
Assuran (Hoar)A god with presence in Chessenta, thought it is not often Korina thinks of him. Still, Assuran represents strength of character, to her. Assuran teaches his devout to strike back when struck and never let others hurt you without you hurting them back, something the Sea also teaches.
Red KnightThere's little to dislike about a deity that encourages her followers to think before they act, such calculated patience is a virtue, one valued by Korina.
WaukeenA lot of life at Sea is about trading, so Waukeen naturally comes up often for a sailor. One would be a fool to not toss a coin to her before making a trade deal.
CyricShe dislikes the Prince of Lies, the greedy god having bitten off more than he can chew, a mindless deity for the mindless sheep.

Background
Family
Markus(Missing) Father, human; A sailor who loved the sea more than his wife and children, and spent little time with his feet on land, up to the day he left and never returned.
Liria Mother, human; A talented weaver, who made nets and tapestries of the highest quality, but also a woman shaken by her husband's disappearance.
Aldrin Older Brother, human; A grounded figure, who resents the sea for what it has done to his family
Ancestor:Chessenta is known for its number of water genasi, this means that far into her family tree, Korina is likely to share blood with a Marid. Still, it is her personal belief that it was a servant of Umberlee that she has the blood of, a mystery unsolved.
Born in the bustling port city of Cimbar, Chessenta, where the scent of saltwater mixed with the clamor of trade ships and fish merchant stalls. Her father, Markus, was a sailor known for his quick wit and unshakable calm in the face of storms. A man of the sea, and one that didn't often stop on land, to the detriment of his family. Korina’s mother, Liria, was a weaver known for making strong nets and beautiful tapestries that depict the sea, though her heart was always tethered to the land and to her two children.

A water genasi, Korina was undoubtedly connected to the sea, and though she seldom saw her father she still idolized him. Stories told by her mother and by others that knew him only enticed her desire for adventure, a deep and restless pull calling to her from within her veins. Her brother, Aldrin, older by several years, was more grounded, helping their mother with her business while Korina dreamed of life beyond the shore.

When Korina was only eleven, tragedy struck. Wind caught word of her father's ship being mysteriously torn asunder, lost without a trace to the swirling, unforgiving waters of the Sea of Fallen Stars. The event shattered her family. Aldrin stepped into the role of protector, helping their mother manage the household, while Korina felt the heavy weight of the loss. Yet, through the sorrow, one thing remained certain—her connection to the sea was undeniable. It was in her blood, her skin, and her every breath. It whispered to her, urging her to seek something beyond the horizon.

On her sixteenth birthday, Korina made a decision. She found work on a small merchant ship, where her heritage as a water genasi made her invaluable during many of the ship's challenges. It was during these challenges that she met with Umberlee, though she already knew to pay respect to the Wavemother, it was now that she learned to embrace her domain over the waters she so adored.

This was the beginning of Korina's journey. Each day she sailed further from her home, in search of answers to the strangeness of her father’s disappearance, and chasing the promise of the sea that had always called her name. This was her destiny, after all, the sea is in her blood and Fate itself made it that way, there is no point in fighting it, nor does she want to.
Future
Little is still known about the future for Korina, though she trusts Fate to guide her well. Maybe she shall stay in the Gate, and help build up the faith of the Wavemother within its port, maybe she'll find another calling in these shores, or maybe her destiny will pull her further, away from the Sword Coast and into the great open sea.
