Release “Hunter” kit from natural spellcasting requirements

Hunter kit forsakes spellcasting. The RP seems to be that it’s a mundane, highly specialized outdoorsman.
As such, Hunter should be able to worship any god they want. A Ranger of Gruumsh maybe doesn’t make sense, since they couldn’t get access to their spells from a non nature god.
But a (man)Hunter of Gruumsh makes perfect sense. It has barbarian adjacent abilities, and a bunch of favored enemies to spend on pinkskins, pointy ears, etc.
Hunter should also be allowed to cross class with Pale Master, Acolyte of Skin or other anti-nature classes provided the character qualifies with some other spellcasting class. Why not? If it means some of these get a little more play that seems like a win!
Hunter seems to be a nonmagical outdoors warrior. Other nonmagical classes can worship gods and take classes as long as they fit the alignment, religion, etc requirements.

You can already change to Gruumsh, there's an npc in the nexus that allows for more than the basic deity list.

Separately, I do not agree that hunter should allow for arcane spell-casting cross class requirements. However, you could make a hunter/wizard that would.

Sorry if it wasn’t clear, that’s exactly what I meant. Of course Hunter shouldn’t qualify for stuff like that it can’t cast at all! But if you cross class with wizard like you said I think it should.

Ah,, in that case, I don't believe anything is stopping you.

The wiki says Ranger cannot cross class with some of these PrC. I imagine because they are “unnatural”. Does that not apply to Hunter?

I could not find the line you're referencing, is that a wiki from another edition?

It’s in the BGT wiki for Acolyte of Skin - I thought Pale Master also? Weird you can be a Ranger pale master…

Ah ok, specific to the acolyte (I'm not familiar with that class but you're correct, its part of its class description). Can't do that combo but so far as I know wizard/palemaster is fine, probably aligned with one of the gods that handles undeath. The rp behind it? Caretaker of gravesites if neutral/kelemvor? If evil go hog wild. Bog ranger of undeath.

Cool. Well my suggestion to let Hunter (not Ranger!) take Acolyte of Skin since it’s not a natural spellcaster stands then?
But I’m glad you can just deity switch off I figured you were somehow locked.

Bump again - if Hunter can already worship non-nature gods by using the switcher including demons and devils, and wouldn’t lose anything because they don’t have any spells to lose, restricting them from Acolyte and other unnatural PRC doesn’t make a ton of sense.
Especially if base ranger can already multi class Pale Master for instance and keep its spells?
