History
Bhor Stonecutter was born in 1258 DR, amid the icy peaks of the Spine of the World, where his clan thrived in a small settlement known as Stonehall Keep. Though few in number, the Stonecutters were renowned for their skill and resilience, living as master craftsmen and stalwart defenders of their home.
In 1347 DR, Stonehall Keep fell to the frost giant warlord Coldbrand, leaving Bhor the last of his family within the keep. While other members of the clan survived and scattered across Faerûn, Bhor alone bore the ancestral waraxe Stonebreaker and the weight of his clan’s legacy. Vowing to honor his kin, he journeyed south, lending his talents as architect, diplomat, and warrior to war‑torn communities in need.
His journey led him to Baldur’s Gate and then to the rising dwarven kingdom of Kraak Helzak, where in 1354 DR, the Year of the Bow, at the age of 96, Bhor became a citizen and an oathsworn. There he offered his mastery in building and battle, forging alliances, strengthening defenses, and earning the trust of king and kin alike.
In 1355 DR, during the Devils’ War at Dragonspear Castle, Bhor commanded one part of the attacking force that marched from Kraak Helzak. Shortly after that war, a new threat arose from Troll King Hewbert. The lands outside the kingdom lay in ruins. Seeking allies and aid, Bhor directed detachments of Kraak soldiers against Hewbert’s siege.
The following year, 1356 DR, he stood among the architects of Kraak Helzak’s massive rebuilding, working with Lord Aaron Lyonalar to secure the pact with Baldur’s Gate. For this loyalty, at the age of 98, King Dovkin Battlehammer named him King’s Hammer, a title Bhor wields with humility, using it only in important missions or at the king’s command.
In 1357 DR he helped his kin settle griffons above the main gate, strengthening the city’s defenses, and in 1358 DR, Bhor rallied citizens and soldiers in the War for Rockrun, joining the Blue Lantern Company to defeat duergar and illithids. He also urged King Dovkin to join the Lord’s Alliance, citing the threat of the Zhentarim and their drow allies, and the king journeyed to Waterdeep to secure Kraak Helzak’s place among the realms of the Sword Coast.
Through 1359–1360 DR, after the Time of Troubles, he collaborated with Lord Aaron Lyonalar and the Order of the Radiant Heart to build the Radiant Crossing, a bridge and fort over the River Chionthar, while also contributing to the rebuilding of Baldur’s Gate.
Bhor has often assisted the elven settlements of Doron Amar and En Dharasha Everae, most recently in 1361 DR when he urged King Dovkin to send troops against drow and demons in the Glimmerwood, showing his devotion to both Kraak Helzak and the wider Sword Coast.
In that same year, 1361 DR, Bhor joined with Brinn Essebrenanath to reignite the Assembly of Kraak Helzak. Guided by the principle of “one Stout, one vote,” the Assembly resumed its duties: securing roads, protecting the lands, advising the King, forging alliances, mediating disputes, and gathering intelligence across the Sword Coast, strengthening both the unity of Kraak Helzak’s citizens and its standing among neighboring realms.
Driven by hope, Bhor envisions Kraak Helzak as a beacon of unity and trade among races. With Stonebreaker in hand, he defends his people, but his greatest battles lie in diplomacy and construction, building bridges of stone and trust to secure a lasting legacy.
Personality
Bhor is friendly and approachable, often greeting others with a broad smile. He values unity, loyalty, and honor, blending dwarven honesty with diplomacy, and views every wall raised or pact forged as a step toward a stronger future for his people. Patient and resilient, he despises deceit. His deep, resonant voice carries both warmth and authority. In battle his demeanor transforms, sturdy and unyielding, commanding with a mighty presence.
Appearance
Bhor cuts a striking figure among his kin. His shaved head emphasizes the hard, chiseled lines of his face, while piercing blue eyes and a thick brown beard, partly braided with threads of gold, give him a rugged, unmistakably dwarven look. He is not beautiful by any measure, yet his broad smile and bushy, expressive eyebrows lend him warmth and approachability. When he speaks, his deep, resonant voice instills confidence and carries a natural charm, making his presence both commanding and reassuring. Large and broad‑shouldered, he embodies the balance of friendly charisma and might.
