Drow I would say are innately arrogant, regardless of the past history of the city. To play a drow weak, spineless or just plain passive would kill it for me. Priestess of Lolth pending on how detailed/descriptive you want to get don't truly gain there status by just easily climbiing their hierchy. They have to learn to deal with very stressful sistuations, even dealing with enemies within there house. Having the Conclave hate them outside of it only adds another element to their heavy plate of loathing. Please if you find a peaceful, meak and mild prestiess of Lolth, please direct them to Yath'tallar Cazna Sshamath, I'll fix 'em up real good

yup.. that would be drow males....Eviloth wrote:Eldebryn, have you seen humans down in the UD? Or did you mean drow male?Eldebryn wrote:
Hmmm... and I was wondering why all these drow who play females treat human males like dogs.
I just have the impression that some , definitely not all, people who play drow roll female priestesses of Lolth and actually think that in Ssamath they are the rulers just like they would be in Menzoberranzan.
Of course as I said it could be just me... but I think that's the idea one might get while encountering some drow in the UD. If the players are aware of that fact and just RPing bitchiness like joleda describes then it's perfectly ok with me.

Yeah, I feel like the drow of low lv I meet got their knowledge by the few drow novels. They simply do not know anything or know very little. And what the hell with that female bootlicking?! It really pisses off my PC, why they make spineless males? All drow must have ambitions....
Well, the point about players...Why DM's would bother themselves on the 2-3 players of UD with obvious lv difference who run around in different parts of UD? And PC's must be interesting to take their attention.

I think we are totally vearing off of the thread topic. It might be a good idea to create a new thread.Rainbow Prism wrote:Yeah, I feel like the drow of low lv I meet got their knowledge by the few drow novels. "Why people hate how Priestess of Lolth act!"
Here is the low down. If someone believes in Lolth(specifically a male drow) then that is up to them how they want to RP their submissiveness to a Priestess. Since males are lesser in the eyes of Lolth then those that choose to play a failthful zealot of Lolth should have no issues or have to go thru the negativity that I see brewing here.
No one forces anyone to be a slave or worship Lolth on this server.
If someone doesn't believe in Lolth then they don't, and yes they can make fun of the spider kissers, but if you are caught deep within the caves and that same spider kisser you have a habit of insutling comes upon you, well then I guess we all know the reality of it.
Do we want to have a city that is 100% totally void of Lolth? Where the males beat the crap out of them? The worship of Lolth is KoS?
If not then I think that every priestess I have ran into is doing great at rp. They aren't the CareBear Loltholites.

Your point is clear. It is not that I hate yathrins, but the thing they are almost identical.

So has a UD DM logged on in a few days? Just curious. I know this is school season for many.

Just a reminder also that you can do events etc without a DM. Just ran a recruiting "event" for a someone who wanted to join BD (Lucky day for the other two). Youd be suprised at how much willing players, a couple scrolls, a couple summons/dominate spells, and the DMFI name changing tool can do. You might not get DM xp from such a thing, but its fun and I normally give gold.

I agree you don't need a DM to run events. However, having one doesn't hurt

It does if it involves Broham. Hurts quite a bit. *remembers being crushed by ogres, amongst other things thanks to Unstable*

On the topic of deep gnomes, I have rolled one and am enjoying it, though we are indeed rare. And I defiantly second the idea of some DM love down in the UD.
And the player run event was really good, I actually wasn't aware that he wasn't a DM til the end!

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
Hmm... I think I just had an idea...
Perhaps the whole UD community could participate in assembling a group of unofficial UD DMs chosen by the players themselves, how about that? I believe there are characters in the UD with no little influence and reputation, by voting a few of them and accepting them as "DMs" who can organise events either through their IC persona or by just using their character as an invisible narrator.
This could take the following form for instance:
1st thread: 'Application for UD community DMs'
Requirements: level 10 UD character, knowledge of Ssamath lore, DMing skills etc
Post your application describing what makes you fitting community DM and what you can do for the UD community by assuming that role.
2nd thread: 'Vote here for UD community DMs'
This thread could be created after giving wanna-be DMs a week or so to prepare their applications in the previous thread and create a poll in this thread so that the players can vote and post their comments.
After the voting takes place, the top 3-5 scorers could be entitled "UD community DMs" thus giving them some needed prestige in order to run events.
What are your opinions?

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
I will preface this by saying that no players, at any time, are going to have clout over other players, period.
But it sounds to me like what you are describing is RP, and.. yeah thats encouraged.
