red wizard application questions

Unread post by matnow »

At the beginning I would like to apologise for posting on this forum sections already two messages in somebody's elses thread. JUst saw people doing same and had actually forgoten those rules. You do not have to post them, I am sorry anyways.

So I came back to playing on the server and I have a few questions concerning the red wizard class, as i have never tried it out.

Firstly, I would like to know until what overall character level you have to take the red wizard prestigue class.

Secondly, about the lore: is it possible for someone outside from Thay to become the red wizard? I have one idea how to roleplay it, but not sure whether this is even possible. Would be a human, but not Thayan.

Moreover, does being the red wizard obligates me to wearing the red wizard costume all the time?

Finally, does being the red wizard makes you stay in the organization permamently or somehow you can resign from it (rp), be kicked out etc. and if so then what is happening to your character. I mean from the technical side like are you loosing this class and so on and so forth.

Looking forward to your kind replies :D. I hope none asked them before.

1. There is no minimum level to take the class. Just get DM approval to take the class, and fulfill the class prerequisites. Contact DM Sojonour (http://bgtscc.net/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=650) for DM approval to take the class.

2. At this point in the timeline, Red Wizards come from Thay.

3. I think you would be wearing red, since Red Wizards are no longer outlawed by the Dukes. Depends on your RP reasoning, I guess.

4. Taking the Red Wizard class does not require you to be in the Red Wizard guild. There are Red Wizards working independently of local enclaves.

1. All right, but in fact I was asking for the maximum. Is it fine with the rules to take this prestigue class after 20 level?

2. So... I guess that someone who seeks for power and comes to Thay in order to get to know red wizards' technics, spells etc.

3. That is a pity... Nothing better than being hunted by everyone

4. I see, its good. On the other hand since a lot red wizards take independent actions, your wrong behaviour will not make you provoke the war or sth... :( Well, I still could make hostile actions so that the people would hate me  and red wizards renounce me  . In fact I would be hostile to everyone. :ugeek: but... still red wizards not being outlawed anymore hurt my feelings deeply :(

1. most likely not. I think this class was made DM approval only, due to so many people not taking it until level 18, to get acces to more spells of the opposing section.

We have a few members who do not wear red robes because they prefer to operate without the constant barrage of insults and griefing that comes with the affiliation. It's not required.

As to alienating your character from the Red Wizard enclave and being "hostile to everyone", have fun dying young ;)

What? I thought the whole point of the change was make people take RWoT at level 5 or 6 latest.... so as to not abuse the opposed school thing.

1. It is not strange, is it? Taking it at the low level completely disables you from having spells of two sections. It is also hard to say which one is the section you could resign from without giving too much of your power. And if I understood correctly there are already characters that took red wizards very late. In fact the whole red wizards' society, if I can call it like that, would be divided not only due to specialization but as well to made observing less and more strict rules. If you would ask me, that matters.
Since I would be the mad, hostile to almost everyone (of course not from the 1st level  ) I would not really live for too long.

2. That is a pity. Kinda hurts my roleplay. I would probably prefer to become other mage prestigue class in that case. Still not decided though.
