I'd rather spend my Medieval period in Constantinople than the rest of Europe ;)

It depends. You wouldn't want to be in Constantinople in 1204 :lol:

Anyway, in the high middle age Constantinople began its slowly decline which lasted centuries. In the years of the last byzantine emperors the town was, basically, a latrine. There were much better cities in Europe. Praise to the Ottomans, though, who managed to revive the city and bring it back to its former glory.

I too have been working my way through five books of "A Song of Fire and Ice" - currently halfway through:

I'll admit that it is starting to tell it's the same writer, but in one way I do enjoy the fact that nothing is too sacred to be killed =P I for one have absolutely NO clue how its going to end!
