Hound of Culann's adventures

Will-o'-wisp's in the woods

Dancing lights could be seen in the woods of Cloakwood, a group of hunters testing themselves on the lizards and wildlife in the area decided to follow the lights into the darkness of the woods. As they followed the lights deeper and deeper into the woods they found more and more Will-o-wisp's that attacked them. Once they got to the deepest darkest part of the woods the lights vanished. The group was then attacked by a large party of all manner of creatures in the woods and the Wisps themselves. After the fight, the party explored the area as the rest of the wisps stood by and feed off there emotions till the sun hit the sky.

Hopefully the party has learned a lession from this encounter, the same lession many mothers teach there children. Never follow the dancing lights at night.

"It was a late night, and a party just finished killing the creature known as Choas. The party's Druid used a Dragon shape to battle the undead that was at least once a woman. The floors cracked and the building whined under her weight. Before doing any more damage that may collapse the building on themselves they rushed to the first floor. Where they met a number of undead simply unknown to that Particular haunted house.

Image
A Banshee, along with zombies of slain commoners attacked them. The undead where slain quickly and the group left the house as fast as they could. The doors locked themselves behind them.

Image
The forest was a movement of trees...no Treants as they moved towards the party. The party was ready for them, expect many fell and died before ever reaching there blades...only to get back up again. The Undead Treant grow and fell in number before there was calm again. The party stood, wondering what had happened when they where approached by a little, ugly fey.

Image
The Quickling as there called, offered to show them the place of the undeaths origin. For a small fee of course. Of course the party was untrusting of this little ugly fey, but the Druid felt it was there duty to find out what happened. So they took a trip deep into the woods, where there was little a path to follow, less then an animal trail. Once the fey found the place he was looking for, he laughed at the party. "Welcome to the Haunted Woods" he said. Then he took off, laughing again "I never agreed to show you the way back"

Image
The forest was filled with trapped spirits...undead unable to escape as they fell steadily into evil mindless creatures.
Ghosts of so many who got lost in the woods.
Drowned undead, crying for air that will never fill there now dead lounges.
A dead paladin, who could not stop fighting...and another that died all too close to his goal.
A Ranger still looking for his long dead animal companion, and his brothers who could not find him.
A Nightwalker, drunk on the power of the place.
The party made there way past them all. To find one more...this one was different. An elf, a ghost of an elven male...filled with power. His mind was shattered, at moments he notice the party was there, and at others he forgot about them. He gave bits and pieces of his sad story. He told of traveling with his family, of a son lost in the woods and the vampires that killed them all in front of him. This elf was a sorcerer and the power in his blood boiled even after death. He even spoke of being shown how to control other spirits. He suddenly turned on the party and forced them into a hard battle. After the long battle, the party ended the poor ghost and the air itself felt calmer, less evil.

Image
After wondering the woods, lost, the party saw another quickling run by them before witnessing lighting strike the ground by them, then again in the same spot. The party walked over to the spot only for a powerful mage, no necromancer to teleport behind them and cast a disjunction. He laughed "Made you look" mocking them. This mocking man, was the true cause of the evil in the woods. "Do...you...know...how...long it took to find a soul like the one you just destoryed?" he asked "He was wonderful, his family was torn apart in front of him, the vampires made him watch!" Laughing, mocking the spirts pain. "The Little quickingling do a good job of leading people out here, of course they dont come cheap" Smiling, laughing and mocking the group "I guess am just going to have to some fun with you and see what i can make" The battle was hard won for the group, as members where near death a kind voice whispered in there ears and gave them strength. The Necromancer fell, mocking them till the very end. As he died, his spells started to expire.

The ghost of an elven child was let free of a soul trap spell. He spoke to the party, and thanked them. He told his story...of following a Will-o-wisp into the woods where the vampires made there home. He told them of his home...a Firewine bridge, but the party simply did not know the place. The ghost told them he was granted an abilty to take them out of the woods to his home. They where all teleported to Gullykin, overlooking the cliffs.

The Child cried...he asked the party "Why...why dident you tell me, how could you not know" The River had dried up long ago in a spell battle that destroyed Firewine Bridge, his kin where long gone. The child had been dead for a long time. "I hate you" he said "I hate you i hate you i hate" as he transformed into something ugly and twisted casting powerful magic of death before being consumed himself. The party was near speechless, there plight was over, but that child will never move on to Arvandor.

"The Nashkel foothills where colder then normal, there was a strong wind and frost in the air. Frost giants and Ice paraelementals made there way down the cold mountain attacking the group battling Hill giants. The Group fought well, but where overpowered. They fled to Nahskel and regrouped. There they where joined by an Ice mage and Tiefling. They returned to the Hills only to find one Giant Ice Paraelemental waiting. The Ice seemed not hostile, and walked up to the Frost mage and look at him Piercing blue eyes peered out of deep sockets.

The Paraelemental spoke in a strange language that only one member of the group could understand. He spoke of being summoned with simple orders "Kill warm ones, ally cold ones." The Frost mage refused to ally with the Ice to kill his comrades. So the thing of ice attacked the group and was quickly destroyed.

Feeling there summon destroyed, a small group of Half white dragon investigated the group. They spoke of prayer to Auril and extending the failing winter for the purpose of destruction. The group would have none of there ranting and attacked. The battle was hard fought, and even hell hounds where summoned by the group to aid. The Dragon kin fell.

The White Dragon and father of the Half-Dragon was unhappy. He may not of cared much for his mix blooded kin, but no one simply kills whats his and gets away with it. He Flow out of his lair to meet the party at the hill. Meanwhile the party was discussing the evil nature of a necromancer among them, however there debate was cut short has the Dragon landed. He was disgusted at what he saw, Humans, Tiefling, Hell Hounds, and Undead. He roared in anger and confronted the group, giving them an choose. Die by him, Turn over the hell hound undead summoning member of the group, or allow him to take the lady elf for himself. The party argued much over the matter, before Dahila Jade decided to let the Dragon take her. The white smiled and promised he be back for the elven lady soon, flying off into the air. "

Dahila Jade was fighting trolls with a group of adventures. After they spent a decent amount of time in the Troll Claw hills more powerful Trolls started to make there way at a chance to kill the party. As the trolls got more powerful, a very powerful boss troll made its way to the party killing most of them and forceing jade to run.

A short while later Jade tried sneaking back into the area to find she dident have to, all the trolls where frozen or dead, while the land was covered in ice. She quickly chased all of her companions off before returning to meet the White Dragon that promised to come for her. The white spoke to her, telling her he would not let anything kill what he deemed to be his.

However, the Dragon was too hasty leaving his lair, and traveled too far north. The whites natural enemy a Red Dragon made its way to the Troll Claw hills to slay his foe. A large battle took place.

Image

The red quickly had the upper hand, in both magic and raw power. He slayed his foe and let out a large roar in honor of his victory. He took a look at the tiny creatures who watched the fight but paid them little mind before flying off.

A party spending time on the Trade Way was attacked by a large number of rats. The rats where using a nasty bite, one that could cause paralyses and disease. Troubled by the number of rodents and other vermin the party decided to track where they were coming from. Following the ranger, Catam’s tracking skills they found a cave with maze like insides. The cave was dark, and walls seem to have a life of their own. Bugs where everywhere, Large and small swarms of vermin attacked the party. However the party persevered. There first hint of what was going on came from a Druid in the caves, he cast powerful spells but was quickly cut to the ground, however instead of bleeding his corpse slowly turned to ooze and attacked the party. After the ooze masters ooze was destroyed the party found a symbol of Talona.

The party moved deeper and deeper into the caves, fighting many type of bug and vermin like creatures. Some of the creatures included Magical Ankhegs and Glow Spiders, Hive spiders and her offspring, even Crazed Driders where found in the cave. However the party hit a dead end when they faced a Necromancer with plague zombies, despite their best efforts the Necromancer defeated them all.

The party awoke to find a dark looking man, with cold eyes. He wore the symbol of Talona proudly. The man was covered with bugs, and rats ran around his feet. He was in the process of trying to call disease on the party when the group regained there fighting spirit and attacked him. The battle was hard but the Vermin lord fell. As the life fled from the Vermin Lord so did the bugs that inhabited his body. Soon all the creatures in the cave started to panic as the vermin lords influence faded. As the bugs started to burrow away, even the caves support started to fail.

The party made their way to an exit, and where relived to get out of the sickening cave. They tended there wounds, and cured the diseases they picked up before they departed for rest and storytelling of their adventure.

The previously escaped Necromancer of Talona found his way Deep into the Cloakwoods. He hoped to find some sanctuary in the haunted house. Along the way he enjoyed curseing a number of treants and letting loose his Plague zombies. As the Treants Died they blackened and turned to undead themselves.

A group was already in the area fresh from a fight in the mansion, only to find the woods gone mad. They battled many of the undead Treants and zombies. Soon the party figured out the Necromancer had already passed them and was standing in front of the Haunted home admiring his work. The party rushed back to face him.

He told the group that he was on the run after the events of the night before, and he came to do his gods work in the woods. It was not long before a battle broke out. In the end it was the last dwarf standing to finish off the foul Necromancer. With his death the last loose end of the Vermin Lord and his followers of Talona ended.

A young Sirine found a few woman having a conversation on the beach. She made her way out of the water to ask the females to a dance, and food. She dived into the water and gave them fish and shrimp to cook. She sang and dance as more people showed up to join them. She was pleased with her company and makeshift party so she left them peals to remember her by. The party lasted for a couple of hours before she said her farewells, being careful not to give her name or hint at the location of her home.

Outside the Friendly Arms Inn, there was a strange elven casting odd and strange magics on the ground. She was dressed in robes and followed by a small Beholderkin. After speaking to the woman it became clear that she was insane. She spoke of going to the start of time, or its end, before vanishing into a portal. The party quickly followed with out concern for there own safty.

On the other side of the portal they found themselves deep underground in what seemed like part ruins part cave. The portal soon closed behind them, as Aberrations started to attack them. Soon the party fought there way into a room set with chairs and table, while a human woman in a top hat greeted them. She wore the same robes as the elf before her, but seemed slightly more sane, if a little obbssed with tea and a flair for the dramatic.

The hostess of the little tea party explained to them, that they walked into the lair of Alienist. Alienist being mages that seek power in the Far Realm, often driven mad in the process. She called Mystra some nasty names for cutting off the plane from Toril, then attacked the party with her aberration familiar.

After much fighting of crazed Driders, mindflayers and other mishapen creatures they found there way to the same Alienist that they followed into the portal. She seemed none hostile, but still very much mad. She told them, while stabbing a dagger in her hands and playing with the hole, that she was shown much by one they called lord Xan'Kiru. The party asked if she could send them home but she told them she was out of scrolls. So the party left her be while seeking the one she called lord.

Xan'Kiru was not far down the caves, he was an old Beholder nearing the end of his lifespan. He mocked the party for believing the Alienist was out of scrolls and told them she had plenty. He told the party he was lore wise, and enjoyed the Alienist worshiping him in exchange for knowledge of the Far Realm. He then demanding the party appease him before leaving.

By serendipity one of the party members called the Beholder Xan, instead of his full name Xan'Kiru. The two brained creature Xan and Kiru started to fight itself as it attacked the party, who found the distracted Beholder and easy kill.

The party made there way back to the Alienist, as she was playing with the dagger again in a corner. Learning there lessen from the last time they spoke to the mad, they simply knocked her out and stole the scrolls and a marked Rune off her. They opened a portal back to the coast, leaving the Alienist behind with her madness.

A large number of bandits attacked a group just south of Boulders gate. The group survived the attack with ease, and searched the bodies of the bandits in search of clues. There was little to be found on the corpses in fact they seem under equiped.

The party tracked the attacks back into the bandit caves. There they met much more resistance. They found stocks of food and clothing supply's. It seems the bandits where less after valuables and more after items to live off of.

Near the end of the cave the group finally found a group of bandits willing to talk to them. They explained there situation, the war with Amn has just ended, taxes are high, food is low. They told the adventures that they know little of the commoners plight, and simply could not understand. There was clearly a divide between the adventures and the despite people. Even after the party tried reasoning with them, and even tried laying down there arms, the bandits minds could not be changed. With the final words "This is for my starving Daughter" The bandits attacked and where killed or injured.

Bandits part 2

A group of adventures testing themselves against lizardfolk found themselves ambushed by some daring bandits. They managed to survive the ambush and follow the bandits back to a camp off the side of the Lions way.

After fighting a few of the more hostile bandits the managed to intimidate a couple into not attack. The Bandits spoke with anger to the Adventures, blaming them for the war and there lack of food. They called them people who take and give nothing back, so they would take what they needed to live from them. "Have you seen the city? You can either be a begger or a bandit!"

Bandits part 3

Anu, a druid, ran into a couple of bandits on the Lionsway asking for coin. She quickly gave them some out of her kindness, and they ran off when they saw a larger group of adventures heading down the road.

The group of adventures had a chat, and decided to follow the bandits off the beaten path. They tracked the bandits down using Anu's powerful tracking skills. There, they found a small camp, with five adults, two children and there mother, and one old man. The adventures wanted to help the group that seemed poor and underequiped. They apporched the bandits with peaceful intentions, however the group was highly distrustful of them. The old man, he was the mos distrustful, he grow angry but did not seem in the best of health.

After talking about other bandit groups, and what they feel forced to do, the Bandits managed to pack up the camp and move on with out violence. The group look a look around the forest, but got distracted and started to follow a will-o-wisp ( ) before having to head back to the road.

A simple story

A raiding party of bugbears and hobgoblins decided to raid the Tradeway in search of easy food. It gained the attention of the Blackmore monster hunters Auric, and Andalor. Joining them where the men trying to gain donations to Baulders gate poor, Pate, and James White.
Image

Aurics tracking skills where more then a match to follow the raiding party back to its home. The goblinoids left the dead on pikes to mark there land at the foot of a minor Mountain near a small lake. Speculation of lack of food, or Black Orcs forcing them south where thrown around, but this story was much more simple.

A fort, filled with a number of younger, but still combat ready Bugbears, hobgoblinds and guards and hunters. It was surrounded by tall but simple wooden posts that acted as a fence, inside was filled with all the simple needs to live. The hunters raided the small fort in a flash, killing everything. The leader of the Bugbears got one good swing at James before he was slain as well.

Behind the small camp, the group found a horror that proved there actions just. The goblinoids where anything but hungry, proof was giving by the wasted ammount of food thrown in a pile out back. A rotting pile of half eaten dead humans, Orcs, and even goblins. Empty cages sat near by, only human waste and awful smells remained. James created a funeral pyre for the body's before burning down the walls of the camp.

So the party traveled back to the coast, with another average tale of the common peril that befalls Fearun everyday.

A Mad Gnome
Image

As a group was enjoying the campfire near the Friendly Arms inn, a odd gnome runs by Screaming for them to run, and its out of control. The adventures where rather unfazed by this, and found it to be just another day at the Campfire when a very large Golem could be seen from the hills. The golem charged, and with the combined efforts of the group it was destroyed before the Fist even know how to react.

A moment later the gnome ran by the other direction yelling again "there out of control, run!" with a few more golems following her, the group once again had to fight, this time a larger number of weaker golems, while the group was fighting the Fist followed the gnome and garbed her before she could get away. As the adventures where finishing up, the guard marched the gnome down the road. As the guard and gnome neared the campfire, the gnome started to cast a spell, and the guard quickly gave her a deadly blow with his axe.

Soon the guard picked up the gnomes body and headed towards the gate to make a report. As everyone was settling back in the campfire, the strange gnome somehow managed to walk behind them and give a bow. While the adventures looked at her confused, she walked off and casted a gate spell taking her home. Seeking anwsers Alyssa Selie, enlisted the aid of Kestral Fyle to trace the teleport and take a party to its location.

Soon the party found themselves standing in a large house filled with golems, after a short battle a homunculus greeted them. "Welcome to the home of miss Lovespell, visitors may be subject to experimentation. Tea will be served in the dining room." The homunculus then attacked and was quickly killed. The party then explored the house, finding many homunculus, Golems, and ooze. There was a wonderfuly large libary in the center that Julindra and Kestral had a hard time leaving, and in the dineing room, tea.

A Homunculus offred them dinner by opening up a door that held a couple of demonic firy chickens, and for desert they where attacked by pudding ooze. In another room they found a Xorn who seemed very interested in eating some metal armor.

After exploreing the house in full, another homunculus told them Miss Lovespell was ready to meet them. They followed the homunculus to the gnome where she greeted them. She welcomed them to her home, and thanked them for cleaning her house. Brent asked if there was payment for the work and the gnome agreed and gave him 5000 gold. She told them of her work, and of the golems, that there use on the trade way would be a bit of fun for her and a good test. Laura Shelse was angry and disgusted with the gnome, she saw her work as nothing but a house of evil and wanted to destroy it. Kestral and Juli took the welcome to heart and went back to the library, while Laura looked for a way to burn the house down.

When Kestral found out what Laura was up too he grow very angry, knowing all the knowledge and libary be destoryed. The party was even allowed to take a few of the books home. Laura finally confronted the gnome and tolde her she had to be taken to the fist. The gnome was upset, and the party was split on what to do. Alyssa suggested that the gnome use her golems to help the gate, but before an answer was given Laura put her blade to the gnomes neck. A near by homunculus grow upset and attacked, he was quickly slain by Laura. The rest of the party managed to pull Laura away. The angry gnome had enough, and used her power over the house to eject the party back to the trade way, along with another poor homunculus caught with the spell. With out the power of the house, the homunculus quickly died before he could become Brents faithful servant. The party then upset with eachother went there own ways.

A young woman in a red hood and cape ran up to the campfire in front of the Friendly Arms Inn. She had tears in her eyes, and clearly been running for some time. "The wolves are after me" she yelled before running north at a fast pace. Soon after a single wearwolf was spotted and slain. The group quickly took off after the red hooded girl to find out whats going on.

With a few more Werewolves slain the party followed the girl to a hillside, where she cried "I just want to go home, please" and so the party decided to escort the woman up the hillside to her mothers house. Along the way many wolves blocked the path, but the party fought on till up the hillside.

When they reached the woman's house, the saw not what they expected. The house was run down, a ruin...no one has lived in that house for years. The woman looked at the stranger who never bothered to even learn her name "I used to live here with my mother, before the wolves came" she said. The party seem shocked as she spoke on "You are men poseing as dogs, while we are wolves posing as men" As she spoke those words her shaped changed into that of a wolf like creature. "No, my mother is no longer alive. They forced me to feed on her or starve" she looked to the ground "Tell me men posing like dogs, will you join us wolves?" With that she attacked, and a large number of her kin rushed to flank the party.

After the dust settled the party could not help but feel upset they could not save this woman. They made there way back down the hill, trying to get back to the trade way. As they left the hillside, they could see wolves looking over them, howling as they left the area.

Wine and Bugbears

Image

Bently sent out a message that he needed to hire a group of adventures, it was not long before word of mouth had a group in the Friendly Arms inn ready to make some quick coin. He told the group that he was expecting a shipment of aged wine, but a report told him the wagon was attacked. He asked the adventures to find the wagon and look for any wine that could be salvaged. He promised them the more wine they bring back the larger the reward.

The party made there way to Thundar's ride, the last known location of the wagon. Bugbears where in number, and they had to fight more then a few to get to the wagon. The wagon was clearly attacked, while trying to ford a stream, thankfully the tracker of the group was able to point the direction where wagons shipment was taken. After a decent ammount of traveling they made there way to what seemed to be the bugbear stronghold.

Inside, where bugbear enjoying a bonfire and there loot from wagon attacks, the party tried to go in invisible but had trouble staying in range of the spell. They charged as the bugbear where just noticeing them, and the party quickly defeated them. They found a pile of loot, must of the wine however seemed broken or empty. After looking around they found two large boxes full, however they needed two hands to carry. So N'varra and Dylan decided to hold the boxes and carefully bring them back to bently while avoiding droping them or loseing them in a fight.

After a long trip, and some very carful footwork they managed to get both boxes back to the Friendly Arms inn with out dropping them, Bently calls for his barmaid and she easily picks up both boxes of wine as if they where paper to the shock of the party (Read Volo's guide to the swordcoast to find out why) Bently then thanks the party and rewards them for there work.
