After an encounter outside Candlekeep, Borbag overhears a name he'd only heard rumors about: Thedran. He confronts the man twice that day; But Thedran obviously not an evil man and constantly defended by the other good people of the Coast... Borbag fails to act. Rumors and circumspection are not enough to judge a man guilty and hang him.

That evening, after the second failure, Borbag speaks to Nihm Mosshil and during that conversation shakes off the shock of his failure and remembers that Torm is the water that tempers the heat of Tyr's Justice. The truth of the situation has eluded Bo and it is his duty to find the truth.

So Borbag dispatches a messenger for the Flaming Fist.

Dear Officer of the Fist,

My name is sir Borbag Zirkus Paladin of the Order of the Radiant Heart. I have recently come to the Gate and as such am required to learn about and assist in the capture of criminals as much as other paladin duties. That said I am a Paladin of Torm. I have many tenants to follow and obey; most commonly known as Law, Duty, Loyalty and Obedience, but unbeknownst to most there is a fifth: Truth. Like Torm tempers Tyr's zealousness for justice, it is my duty to temper the hand of justice in search of the truth. I do not seek to free a criminal of wrong-doings nor do I expect that the Fist has made any mistakes, but before I can condemn an otherwise good man, I wish to know every fact of the events leading to the criminal act.

While there are many rumors and stories surrounding the events of the evening, there is nothing official to be found on Thedran Rock. As far as I can tell there was no trial or hearing, no weighing of facts as is demanded by Tyr and no public confession of guilt.

To the point, I sent this letter for one reason: To request a viewing of any documentation you may have relating to that evening. I would be happy to come to the fists keep and be seated with a guard to be witness while I read.

Even as my messenger delivers this letter, I am finding those involved in the evening and asking for every detail.

//I am not looking for detailed events of the entire night, only what the Fist discovered in their investigation. I am IC/In-Game speaking to characters involved from rumors and stories I've been hearing (In fact, the only reason I'm becoming involved is because I overheard someone speaking Thedran's name, a name I recognized from having read DM Ogorgons event thread over a month ago - thusly why I refer to my knowledge as third tier, rumor and circumstpection).

Cyrus has continued to study as often as he can, whenever he can gain access to Candlekeep. He continues to deleve deeper and deeper into vampire fact, fiction, legends and lore pulling out any and all information he can find on Vampire Lords, Vampires habits, pretty much any information that might be useful, even if it seems insignificant.

He has done this since the night of the failed attempt to kill the Vampire Lord.

After one conversation in particular, Borbag begins to understand the situation. He takes the missives from the Fist and tucks them away in a lockbox that contains other such warrants and declarations. Placing the box back with the other archives he speaks to himself:

"So much has been kept in darkness. So much is left unsaid. I will continue, for omission of the whole truth is a lie. I will have the 'truth'."

*Once again Borbag sits in the strongholds office preparing to write a letter. Sitting with a dictionary open, ink well and pen and a fresh parchment he gathers his thoughts.

After a few moments slowly, carefully and methodically he begins writing a letter addressed to the Justicars of Tyr, stopping only to check the meaning of a few words*

"Justicars of Tyr,

The Order of the Radiant Heart has recently become aware that the criminal Thedran has been condemned to hang prior to any public trial. All signs point to a political injustice than true justice. Unfortunate as the diplomats death may have been, and guilty as Thedran may still be, a trial cannot and should not be forgone to appease political pressure.

Tyr demands justice and Torm follows.

Upon completion of the letter Bo folds it, seals it in wax with the stamp of the Order and sends it to the Justicars by messenger.

Meeting Regarding the Vampire Lord:

Attendees:
Elvina, Thedran, Tan, Revenark, Elethineth, Laisren, Seth and Herran

This particular vampire lord has been tracked/ hunted by elven vampire hunters for centuries now.
The one who came to Doron Amar to seek aid in killing it is currently unable to talk or aid as he is recovering from a near death incident himself after an attempt was made to subdue the vampire.

Facts about the vampires abilities:
1 He cannot be killed out right, but only subdued and laid to rest. with a proper ceremony, it would be possible to raise him again.
2 He can turn into a mist/vapor at will.
3 He can entrance or cause fear to all but the strongest of minds.
4 He has powerful magics.
5 He has an unknown number of thralls, though his main servant/slave seems to be a hunched back dwarf.
6 He has a large number of coffins in many different locations of which he can use any.
7 He has always been known to be in association and entrenched amongst the nobility of any place where he has been known to live/unlive?
8 He has the ability to change his appearance, so is quite likely to look very different now from the noble who we tried to subdue in the theater.
9 He called out Thedran by name during the assault. Though quite likely knows any and all who were involved in the attack.
10 Sunlight does not kill him, though it does hamper his abilities to do many things, ie. turn to vapor.
11 Holy water, garlic, other such things known to be deadly to lessor vampires merely are mere nuisances to this vampire lord.

One thing that was brought up was to have Thedran sacrifice himself by injecting himself with poison or some such or even having his blood magically turned to holy water while the vampire sucked his life from him. I find it hard to write this in the report other then to bring up the absurdity of such a plan as t would surely kill Thedran and still most likely only cause a minor inconvenience to the vampire.

Some spells to be examined as being possibly helpful though are
undeath to death
blood to water

it was mentioned it might be helpful to have a dagger or some such weapon being made scryable and hopefully broken off inside the vampire so as to follow him to his place of rest. I will check with those of Candlekeep to inquire about such items.

The question was raised as to how to detect a thrall, and the possibility of breaking that which holds him.

Ways to kill this vampire lord
- NONE - short of a gods first hand intervention
he can however be subdued by beheading him, burning his head to ash, placing it in holy water and hiding it in a place where it can hopefully never be found again.

Ways of drawing the vampire out.

The idea of finding an artifact of some great value, hopefully of tethyrn origin, and letting it be known to be for sale.

Thedran is to check his sources to see if any such items are known to be in circulation.

It was discussed that when and where another trap can be found to be had Druids would be required, so as to be able to cast a continual source of daylight, thus eliminating his ability to turn to vapor and escape.
