Half Vampire question?

Unread post by dak12attack »

Hey I recently made a character that's a Human. Someone told me I can't RP as a half vampire because, "if it isn't on the character sheet, you can't RP it." I was even RPing that healing spells and turn undead were harming him, just a little. The player told me I can't do that. Who's right/wrong here? Cause I would love to play a half vampire, even with all the death threats and false accusations in character. :) Anyways, thanks for your time! ;)

Your friendly neighborhood RPer,

Dakota.

I believe you need to play your character sheet.
Maybe one of the DM's can comment on this.

But my thing is, I'm not using the vampire template, I'm just using it for RP sakes. I'm not doing anything crazy like a Grey Orc/Vampire/Paladin of Kossuth.

I concur, as Luna said, while I was in the DM team the golden rule was to RP what's on your character sheets. The DMs will have to confirm it again though.

So no, half-vampires arn't permitted (or they wern't during my time). Same goes for half-werewolves and such.

Sounds really nice. how about we make you sparkle In sunlight as well? It would make him that much more unique in my opinion.

All I did was a simple question... and try to justify my answer. But you know what, it's fine.

As has been stated, the golden rule to character concept creation is "play what's on your sheet." This will eventually be on the official list of rules as well. We cannot support vampires, werewolves, dragons, or other magical beings because they are mechanically too powerful for the server's balance of power and fair play.

We do not accept "roleplay only" concepts along these lines either, because to do so is to invite confusing roleplay. It would also make it extremely difficult for DMs to keep track of who is what, which would lead to situations where the DMs blatantly ignore a player's "special considerations," which would only lead to angry players and frustrated DMs.

All in all, the "play what's on your sheet" rule serves to ensure that everyone's playing on a level playing field, and that concept and lore confusion is kept to a minimum.

Are half-vampires even possible in Forgotten Realms? Or dungeons and dragons in general, for that matter? Vampires are undeads, they don't breed.

As strange and wierd as it may sounds, Vampires in the forgotten realms do breed.
In some rare circumstances, a vampire consumes enough blood to be mistaken for a human. Then in even rarer cases, they breed with a humanoid or monstrous humanoid, creating a Half-Vampire. This unholy creation also occurs when a pregnant mother survives a vampires blood drain attack and the child is tainted in the result.

Take a few minutes to read the big signs on the side the building adjacent to the East Farms Caravan Stop. It explains many OOC and a few IC rules and concepts about enhancing your IG experience at BGTSCC.
