Re: RP-Critique/Support/Self Monitoring Club
Cecilia is a good character. She has quite clear strengths and weaknesses, she is possibly one of the most enjoyable (and well played) paladins on the server. And the cool thing about that is that she appears to have some internal conflicts, but always manage to end up in accordance with the paladin code. Sometimes with guidance.Hidennka wrote:I would like people's opinions on Cecilia and my roleplay itself if possible~ : )
I've been playing the game for two... almost three months now, she is my first character and honestly this is the first time I have ever really RP'd to this extent. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself and would love to know what you think and what I can improve on.
Thank you in advance~
Cecilia is a character that will continue to grow for a long time. And that is the fun part of RP, isn't it?

Re: RP-Critique/Support/Self Monitoring Club
Sabel has a heart for those who are close to her and, due to her back-story, children. But she is the extreme version of a social Darwinist/Machiavellian/Nietzschean inspired character. The strong are here to rule and can't be bothered with conventional "slave morality" as it drains the potential of the true masters. Power is to be sought after without any regard to morals or any notion of honor. It's best to be feared than loved another words. The weak are here to serve the masters and the masters are the true innovators and the ones that advance society; hence the masters are immune to having to follow conventional morality meant for only the weak. She is also a bit of a chaotic trickster though, sometimes throwing her lot in with the underdog just to spite the greater power. So potential partnerships with good aligned factions and characters are indeed possible but as always, carry a great deal of backstabbing risk.Hitman Hard wrote:ohboy007 wrote:
I don't have an essay but I have been intrigued for the last two years about Valiant. if you're asking if you are a good RPer I think its a silly question, because the answer is ooooof coooourse! As for asking the question is your character concept interesting on a personal level, I'd have to say yes on that as well. Even when he was one of the chief enforcers of justice at the FAI, he'd be the guy a not so famous at the time outlaw could have an interesting RP convo with. Valiant always had some interesting feedback you wouldn't think would come from one who beat up bad guys at the FAI all day long.![]()
Not sure where his concept is going now but i like it. Its kind of what i thought he was the whole time. A man struggling with the seeming futility of bringing justice to a world so full of rat bastard killers who'd slit their mamma's throat for a silver piece. Is Valiant a troubled man susceptible to being turned completely to the darkside? Does he eventually succumb to nihilism? Does he give the middle finger to all sides and play them for a fool for his personal benefit and those who he cherishes (the lil man)? Or perhaps he takes up his sword and against the odds, does what he can in the name of justice for all? He's a bit of a mystery, an enigma and I like it.
That's it, hope it helps.
Thanks for the abundance of compliments, Sabel has some redeeming qualities I hear? Is she an evil, anti-hero "freedom fighter" willing to do vile things for the Greater Good? Not entirely sure. . . does she have a heart? Somewhat, but I could be wrong!
Kind of sums it up. Thanks for the reply.

///As many are starting to realize I have been trying to develop Koryeneer more in the sense of actually FLESHING him out. I am trying to be more active and really implement his actual Character and give him more SOUL so to speak. It can be hard to really do this for me as I have TBI and PTSD. My days vary so much and I have so many issues remembering RP that happened it can often get difficult. So as I was kicking around the server I found this thread! AWESOME!!!! So please tell me what you think of KOR and how I could improve his RP and depth on the server. Peace Be the Journey!

The first time I found him laying dead on the tradeway, not mechanically dead, but you were RPing death after a PVP match against Assad. I was impressed with your committment to realism. Most people aren't so committed to lay there after PVP to wait for someone to raise them IC. Kudos for that.
Seeing that you were doing this, and because it fit my character's RP, I had my character RP for a time over your body, inspecting it to see who you were, cause of death, I raised you, etc. I had just killed Assad who had attacked me using the same things that had killed you, so I was hoping for some decent RP around that. Honestly I was a bit disappointed with the carefree nature that was taken upon rising from the dead. It was more of a *nods* and leaves situation than I had expected after seeing your committment to realism. There was no discussion over the fact that I brought you back from death. I shrugged that off though, because I know some people just need some time to breathe after PVP losses.
The second time was last night in the Palace District in BG when IC I approached Solaris after overhearing her talking ill of her superior officer. Koryeneer tried to intimidate Zahven by first rolling a modified 36 and then saying "Let me be clear, be gone with you". When I didnt acknowledge that roll as enough to intimidate my character (who is an epic mage, who had recently found you dead, who was standing 10 feet from a guard, and who was talking to someone else) you went OOC and said I was ignoring your RP. You logged out shortly after that so that was the end of that interaction.
Your IC stuff on the forums makes Koryeneer seem like someone that would be interesting to RP with, but I have yet to get any of that IG.

Re: RP-Critique/Support/Self Monitoring Club
////I see your point! Yeah last night was one of those nights my entire being was not really going right. Such is the RP. Thanks. I rarely use Intimidate checks. My OOC comment was more in JEST, I apologize for any misconception on that as typing is hard to emote sometimes in quick type. You pretty much hit the NAIL ON THE HEAD as far as I was thinking about him. When I have time to think like say a few hours or so then he gets pretty interesting but on the spot he is a little off. I blame three kids and a dog on that! Thanks for the critique it is always good to hear it. I have little quirks that he has that get lost from time to time. I am trying to get those into his daily routine and be more consistent about it. He is a refugee from Everlund after a Dragon attacked his town. He is supposed to be ever watchful of the skies for dragons and should be putting on great hunts and slaying dragons most days. However Dragons are hard to kill daily when you have three kids *sad panda face* Throw in a few other things he is supposed to be aware of on a daily basis. I.E. Drow never did get him for something he never really did. and he has a good backstory. Just need to really commit to the RP better at times. I get a little overwhelmed sometimes. As far as die rolls go I am still learning the proper use of them and you learn through use. So all in all I am really enjoying the RP so far. Looking forward to further interactions bad or good with you!

Re: RP-Critique/Support/Self Monitoring Club
Me too! Future interactions will be had.
I understand how RP is made harder by life's circumstances, and it is even harder to maintain that character you've envisioned when those around you are going OOC every few lines. It was all I could do myself to stay IC. Jest or not, it seemed to feed the OOC onslaught which eventually killed any purpose to the interaction (after you left). I'd just ask anyone I RP with to stay IC and if you MUST go OOC, do it in tells.
Besides that, sometimes things in RL have a way of bleeding into your RP and thats just an unfortunate side effect of the real world I guess. Any critiques were meant with full OOC respect, as I said, I think your character seems interesting from what I've read.
I assure you that IC we will learn more of one another, and OOC you have my 100% respect.

Re: RP-Critique/Support/Self Monitoring Club
With Kory, I have had some nice interactions, we always greet eachother. Even though he instantly assumed my character was bad. But we really have not RPd much since then, although thanks for the armor and such! YAY. Some characters have a more important role to play I guess. I like him, but he could spend more time getting to know people around him, especially knew allies ect.
Now, *hides* What do people think of my flightless bird, Vali?

Where to start? She doesn't let anyone push her around, even when she'd be better off for it. She's stubborn and at times so frustrating that you want to claw your eyes out, but there's always a good reason. You do a good job of RP'ing the Paladin role, even though I sometimes think you overplay the stubborness when offered advice or help. Still, it's been enjoyable so far. Keep it up!Hidennka wrote:I would like people's opinions on Cecilia and my roleplay itself if possible~ : )

I like Vali. She's an independant, DIY type of woman, but she's not a lone wolf that works best alone. Despite her recent troubles she still manages to stay positive and stick to her values. Her subtle moodswings and whimsical nature adds both depth and nuance to her RP. I enjoy the RP I've had with her on Tolan. How do do you UDers find Clandric Senset, the slightly insane Imaskari Frost Mage and Elrithade Thiela, the drow rogue?

One of the more impressive and unique characters on the server. I love your view on what a woman barbarian diplomat would be and you project her well.

You do not compromise her love of freedom, her traditionalist tribal ways, and her general ambivalence to the southerners and the Crazy Head Inn.
It can at times be a hard line to walk, I imagine (I know it can be with Cynric), so the fact you stick to character rather than rushing off to the latest southerner's hot topic is all the more laudable!
