How to RP a paladin of Sune?
Going to RP one soon, any useful insights to spare?
I guess the point will all be around being LG of CG deity! Which kind of development you can see for such a character?

Re: How to RP a paladin of Sune?
its not that hard actually
you would have more problem with my paladin/assasin of Hoar
anyway:
Members of Sune's order of paladins, the Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose, are known for their charm, beauty, and aversion to ugliness and evil. They use the power of love to destroy evil and hideous things, and they draw strength from their many romances.
The Church of Sune had a small affiliated order of fighters, paladins, and bards who served to guard temples and holy sites along with the clergy and who sometimes pursued quests or do good works in Sune's name to promote her faith. To become one of the Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose, a candidate stood vigil in a church of Sune all night. If the Lady Firehair appeared to the candidate in a vision during the night or somehow showed her favor, the candidate was admitted to the order. Members of this order were given to writing essays and songs of courtly love when not engaged in vital business, and often adopted a beautiful individual to adore from afar whether that individual would be flattered by such attentions or not.
thats the basic guidelines i can give you

Here's a few links that might help you, some of them are founded in lore and others are debates on the topic

There's definitely a lot of material in a Sune paladin that could be interesting!

Source: http://www.realmshelps.net/faerun/organ ... adin.shtmlSune: Paladins of the Firehair defend things of beauty. They seek out and destroy creatures that are particularly hideous in their evil. They tend to be incredibly self-confident and are particularly effective at destroying undead. They may multiclass freely as divine champions. Paladins may choose Sune as a patron deity despite the fact that she is a chaotic good deity. This is an exception to the normal requirement to select a patron deity whose alignment is no more than one step different from yours.

Source: http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6481I'm not sure that they've outlined various orders unless it is in Faiths and Avatars (which I've recently loaned out). Neither F&P nor the FRCS make mention of specific orders by name.
Feel free to make one or more up for your campaign.
There are several different directions one could go for this:
1. Paladins who seek retribution from those who spoil or deface works of beauty or those who disfigure or maim people.
2. Guardians of Temples and Priests.
3. Knights errant who take up quests for the benefit of the church and the church's petitioners, as well as take part in tournaments and matters of courtly love.
4. Knights who hunt down the most vile of creatures as per the blurb in the FRCS.
For a bit of extra flavor with a paladin (or cleric or hartwarder) character consider these bits of flavor that F&P offers:
1. Followers of Sune will often disguise themselves when doing something that would get them dirty, to both protect themselves and to disguise their identity.
2. Clerics of Sune (and one would imagine paladins as well) will study an artform of one kind or another, with dance being a default if no other is suitable. Any profits from this artform are turned over to the church.
I've played a couple over the years and they are a great change of pace from the traditional portrayal of paladins. For both, I took Sune's dogma and adapted it to my paladin's oath (which definitely is quite different from any other paladin oath).
One of my favorite encounters had us defending an outcast from a village's farm from a smallish drow invasion. It turns out that he was an outcast due to being a practicing bigamist (both wives being very happy with the situation). After defending his farm (and the village as well in the process), I was able to give a pretty good impromptu speech to the village regarding the farmer's bravery, heroism, the fact that he had been blessed with more love in his heart than any one woman could fulfill, and that the village should be ashamed for treating him and his household as anything less than heroic and worthy of inclusion.
Hope that helps you getting started, the most important part is rolling aspects you could seem development potential in and most importantly, think could be fun... and that fits within the lore

So basically an errant paladin of Sune could go around slaughtering those he or she perceives as ugly?

Re: How to RP a paladin of Sune?
A concentrated paladin effort vs the tieflings would be more welcome perhaps but as long as the drow and aasimar are bystanders in the conflicts mentioned who am I to complain?
In fact, whom to contact in order to sponsor wayward sunites?

Is "ugly" just the inherent undesirable-ness of the PC as represented by the character sheet statistics or more encompassing to include fashion sense, personal hygiene, and other things PCs can actively change?
PC1 = Nerys, Emissary and Skald of the Greyfox tribe, roaming north near Secomber
PC2 = Valqis Sanejmeh; far away cartographer, Oracle of Nut at chaltin QulDaq, former navigator of the Sea Seeker, Reader of Candlekeep and sometime performer.
