I think we would need to know which invocations are more suitable for a warlock, depending on his alignement.
For example, "Dark Ones Own Luck" looks like it's evil, so only evil characters may take it. What about the other invocations?
Although none of the invocations are restricted to take and to use, it should be good to define the invocations by alignement, for RP needs.

That is incorrect impression. There is absolutely nothing evil in increasing your saving throws. Scary name is not enough for it to qualify as evil.sinopip wrote:I think we would need to know which invocations are more suitable for a warlock, depending on his alignement.

It is a bad idea to define invocations by alignment, because what your character picks depends on your character and source of power.sinopip wrote:Although none of the invocations are restricted to take and to use, it should be good to define the invocations by alignement, for RP needs.
The one that is definitely evil is "dead walk" which creates undead. The rest are arguable.

Re: Warlock invocations and alignement
Additional details:
From arcane spells even avasculate (remove half hitpoints) and enervation (level drain) do not have "evil" descriptor.
I've checked out all warlock invocations from bgtscc and oc:
The ones that are obviously evil are "Dead Walk", "Summon Baatezu" ability (hellfire warlock), epic spell "Epic Gate" (assuming you get balor and not angel).
Some are arguable, but none of them are outright evil. What matters is what you do with those powers of yours.

Any spell that summons a fiend is also objectively evil.NegInfinity wrote:It is a bad idea to define invocations by alignment, because what your character picks depends on your character and source of power.sinopip wrote:Although none of the invocations are restricted to take and to use, it should be good to define the invocations by alignement, for RP needs.

Re: Warlock invocations and alignement
Warlocks do not have any invocations that summon fiends. None.Deathgrowl wrote:Any spell that summons a fiend is also objectively evil.NegInfinity wrote:It is a bad idea to define invocations by alignment, because what your character picks depends on your character and source of power.sinopip wrote:Although none of the invocations are restricted to take and to use, it should be good to define the invocations by alignement, for RP needs.

The only exceptions are
1. Summon Baatezu Ability (not invocation) granted to hellfire warlock prc. That ability was homebrewed by obsidian, and it is not present in PnP
2. Epic Gate epic spell. (also not invocation).
3. Messing with planar binding scrolls.
That is it. However, no warlock invocation allows you to summon a fiend. You have two polymorph invocations, but that's it. No actual fiend summoning.
