Re: Thread of infinite appreciation!!
In light of recent topics, I would like to thank the Administration and DM crew for putting up with people's crap and making a fun, free, and active server for all of us to enjoy - despite the best efforts of some people to inject negativity and attack the server.
---
Also, I would like to thank Killington for invoking excellent roleplay whenever Kayne and Tegeus encounter one another. He is the first character to open him up and get to know him a little bit more than anyone else (which is still very little... lol). I remember the first day our characters met, I bashed him for 'instigating' PvP prematurely after seeing several other players do it just prior to our meeting. He in fact gave the character several 'outs' and I respected the way he handled my outburst. I felt kinda sheepish and may have apologized one or a dozen times...
I look forward to getting to know the members of the Hunters of Vengeance more as I get more play time and spend less time wandering around solo. I would like to show them a little appreciation, as it's been incredible so far.

I realize you don't want many replies, Maecius, as you locked the thread immediately. But I can't help myself. You deserve a lot of thanks.
You have been the best of the best among the DMs. A DM all other DMs should aspire to be like. I have never, ever felt unfairly treated in your events. Never been given cause to complain or even think of complaining. Win or lose, it's always been enjoyable, deeply immersive and well researched. And as many people know, I am one that can be quite vocal about my dissatisfaction of DMs.
The first event I was in when I started on the server in 2011 was run by you. I was entirely new to NWN2 RP, and PWs in general. I had been playing PnP for years before starting, but the NWN2 RP experience is very different (I also had tested out RP servers on World of Warcraft, but that never made me very interested). The event itself was a cleansing of Doron Amar and was basically one of those massive events with lots of people, lots of mobs and lots of lag. But nevertheless, it sparked an interest in me: A DM was making the world dynamic. Players could actually influence the world. I realize this could just as well have been another DM, but it wasn't. And now having experienced more of your events, I think I can say with some measure of certainty that even if it was one of those lagfest events, it was probably made as enjoyable as possible because you were the one running it. I was so excited. And it made me stay.
You're also responsible for a lot of the more memorable events and plots I've been a part of: You were campaign coordinator when I started on the server. The Amn/Gate war was part of the campaign I think you were coordinating. Later, I was part of an elven group in Waterdeep and the Ardeep Forest, investigating the location of an old elven temple and subsequently clearing it. The events in Waterdeep in particular were very, very memorable.
Later, during Laitae's time as Guide of Candlekeep, you ran a wider shadow plot with a Nighthaunt. I don't think I had a very big part of it, as I never really found out how it ended (Auric wasn't exactly reporting back to me!
), but there were a few events in Candlekeep regarding it and they were all very engaging. Through your events, Laitae got cursed by Shar and later cured by Mystra, through Tethtoril in the presence of Miirym, the Sentinel, the Silver Dragon ghost of Candlekeep. The RP the curse sparked was a lot of fun, and the cure for it meant extremely much to my character.
All in all, Maecius: A sincere, heartfelt thank you.

Maecius, I respect the fact you locked your farewell thread. I just wanted to say: Thank you Maecius, for being there for us players and staff members. Thank you for continuing to support the server even after stepping down as a DM. I remember how you helped me out in early 2010, when I was fairly new to the server, and I'll remember how you never stopped being the helpful go-to person that you were since then; A great mediator, teacher and (I'd like to think
) friend.
Thanks for always being there, Mac.
