Dear Santa

This christmas i want someone dead! :D

If he succeeds his Save throw, Paralyzed would be fine.

I've been mostly good this year, taking my turns to loot chests and rarely checking Scry for metagaming reasons :D

I also Gave an item to a random guy!

Thank you Santa!

I just want to say thank you, to the DDoSer...cause it gave me time to watch this:

Which I think even the DDoSer should watch...it is almost...metaphoric.... 8-)

You gotta get to 2:53 in the clip...wait for it....

I'm really enjoying the RP on this server. Sad to see that it goes down around the same time almost every day which for me is 10am to 3pm PST or later. I'm sure these questions have been asked before: 1. Is it always a DDOS attack that brings it down? 2. And there's no way to prevent it?

It was frustrating to log on for a DM campaign a Saturday or so ago and then crashing and refusing to let me log back in. :( Regardless, I love this particular build of the world, and the people are great. I'm sticking even if I can only log on in the late hours! Thanks to all who make it so.

A disgruntled GMT player has to be using a paid service. There would be no reason to start and stop at roughly the same times every day unless he was paying for it. Otherwise he/she would just continue the ddos forever since it takes little resource to do so.

Yeah we went a good several months with a consistently stable server. It's almost definitely ddod every time. When there is a server issue known the devs or dms always post to let folks know.

This far the staff had been unable to prevent the attacks, but they've stated in the past they continue to look into options

As we've proven time and again, or community is stronger than the ddos attacks. Whoever it is will eventually lose interest or run out of money, but we'll still be here!

Welcome and enjoy your rp, the attacks will eventually stop. :D

It's been proven time and time again in the brief times where people have been able to get back in BG has had the highest pop server in the nwn2 communities, despite these attack, regardless the whether its a pretty safe bet people will still comeback to this server, the community is never leaving.

The truth is, getting endlessly DDOSed only reflects on the DDOSer themselves. If they are so intent on ensuring that people cannot play something that is only for personal enjoyment, then it is a meagre reflection on what little enjoyment they get out of life.

This is not a corporation or a business. This is just a hobby group of people who enjoy each others company. Ultimately, what we have in common will bring us back and our DDOSer (who is very aware of who they are and no doubt is reading this) will run out of money long before we run out of patience.

We've got a new experiment in the works, and a couple of new systems and suggestions that helpful players have pointed us towards.

These trial runs won't happen overnight, as there is some footwork involved. So please be patient with us in the short term.

I can't promise a fix (even websites with millions of dollars behind them can be dropped by a really strong DDOS), but I can state that we are actively working on mitigating the attacks.

As to the question of server stability, we do occasionally have crashes because of an update gone wrong, power outage, DM pushed the wrong button, etc. But they're once in a blue moon. Most of this headache has just been targeted DDOSing.

Here is a funny thing about these DDoS attacks: whomever is doing them, actually has accomplished their goal: they mess up Players fun. Done. Been done. So, really, they already achieved a "win," and there is really no "need" to do it further. With the exact same action, and the exact same effect, nothing new is actually coming from it. The same Players will keep dealing with it, and then when the DDoS stops, they'll come back online, and have their fun game. The whole action has reached a null point.

Which isn't a very good use of...anyone's intelligence, least of all, their wallet. :|

So on one hand, I'd like to recognize the success of the original action, but also recognize the failure in continued action. I mean..this is a Game. One can only get so annoyed by not being able to play a game. And there are, by far, many many more important things out there to allow to affect a person, in any significant way.

Good, now say that while twirling your mustache with your right fore finger and thumb and holding the hilt of your foil with your left.
