Nor is it realistic. It's trying to make loot irrelevant. It's in the same box as giving everyone whatever stuff they want for free. Any realistic idea takes into account what we've now, any thought on desiging a world from scratch, while fun, aren't going to be of much use.

It's still surrounded with some favoritism-bias. Many people just never seem to get into events, particularly those who aren't in guilds. Plus, it tends to lead to even more event-chasing. There are players that have characters in many guilds so they can participate in many more events, and so get many more rewards in theory. Is this a good thing?

DM's could be a bit more generous with items, particularly non-epic ones, but it's about how to balance events so that they're spread out among the playerbase, rather than the rewards hitting the same people over and over.

I worry about that. Perhaps unfounded, perhaps not. Which is why I think that an alteration to the percentages is a good step moving forward.

Well, until spreading the events out more is achieved, perhaps the DMs could track item distribution based on players instead of characters?

It's possible, but it becomes tedious with all the people that love to have multiple accounts. For them, you've to look up the CD-keys and match, and that is just so boring

Of course, you also have to have like a big topic on the DM forums where people write down every small reward too, with CD-keys of the reciever, and yeah...it just becomes too laborous since the DM would have to keep track of this and double-check it for all party members...

Because this is an RP server and we do not want to encourage minmaxers. A server full of carbon copy power builds does not make for a very enjoyable RP experience.

It's not particularly hard to do loot runs with a PvE designed build on this server. It is particularly boring if that's all you do.

Well, that is your opinion, not a fact.

I do not express an idea to make loot irrelevant—though it does have a nice ring to it...good idea Karond! —but actually make each Level, each Item, each experience of "being" while ROLE-PLAYING on BGTSCC, completely relevant and F.U.N.. That includes a system of Risk v. Reward, and an actual environment where Success and Failure are present, equally, and...that fact makes your blood pump. Unlike the current situation, where there is nothing to "worry" about, your Toons live forever, they can keep their "shinies" forever and on Mules and never worry about thieves, losing anything, or not having enough Coin—eventually...—to buy what you want, cause the "act" of buying/selling on the Auction House thread is never treated as it should be: in-character.

If you see realistic as convenient—Give me convenience or give me death—then that is 1 way of looking at it. What "we" have now is totally unrealistic, mate. Unlimited coin, unlimited Chest Treasure for All, and no "real" economy, like AC81 points out: we need "Enchanters, epic stores, horses, houses and estates." Taxes!

EDIT: Isn't it the role of QC to always look to re-designing how the environment "works" on BGTSCC, "rebuilding" the Server as necessary?

Well, I'd like to see DMs handing out more shinies, but also don't think having uber gear affects my roleplay that much but the economy is kind of screwed, we need crafting, enchanting and other gold sinks asap.

But also from what i've read, we need a rulling preventing people from joining several guilds for events, that just leads to dead guilds whenever they aren't having events.

No, QC's purpose is testing and constantly finding and reporting on issues, as well as offering balance suggestions and advice to the ones that make the decisions.

The PW is too far gone to make drastic alterations. I too could think of many ways on how to create a better foundation for a PW to stand on, but there won't ever be a server wipe or a really drastic change. In the end, arguments for such becomes unconstructive no matter how well intending. We need to work with what we have.

As it comes to loot, the best way IMO is to stamp out illegal items, introduce most epic items or the equivalent to shops, and increase the percentage drops by X amount.

THIS!!! Exactly. When your sandcastle is not quite right you work with it! We never cared as little children that our Sandcastle did not look like an actual castle we were just happy to have one so we would go ahead and say hey this needs a moat....not I need a new castle.......

Updates are coming again, so isn't working with what we have exactly what we're doing? Last I checked, the staff was working on a crafting system and it sounds like they're working on some kind of epic-ish type stores... unless thats just me remembering Karond talking about it alot... So fixes, as big or small as they are, are being worked on.

What I don't understand is that I thought I remembered somewhere that someone wanted to reel back how much the Power hungry chest grinders was getting compared to the casual RPer, so it happend, but now that it was pulled back by 50%, now everyone wants more chests added... so wouldn't that just bring it back up to some people having more than others? Wouldn't a better fix be something that would bring income from something other than chest looting and monster grinding? Such as a crafting system? Which is being worked on?

But crafting is just another form of grinding for wealth then. One that has less risk of death and no loss in consumables (if a chest grinder uses them).

The new loot system is great in many ways. It would just be nice to lessen the impact for the heavy grinders. Some people want to spend a lot of time getting rich, and I at least think it's more difficult now than before to do just that.
