My simple question is, is there perhaps a way to add a background that gives exotic weapon prof.
Or perhaps if lore fits the RP DM granted feat for such.
Example is Takeo Yamada from Kozakura. His weapon of choice is Katana. While yes I have the feat already in my build because of his RP would his natural training from his home land grant him prof. Feat for katana for free?
Not looking for a power grab or anything. This is more or less for people that want to RP people from regions not native to the coast. Takeo has VERY limited knowledge of the western lands and often says or does things people may find odd. Or are we stuck having to "lose" a feat for our RP?

Re: Exotic weapons.
Is it any different than Bastard Sword for more western-based lands?
I assume the principle is that these weapons take extra skill to master and this is represented by an additional Feat. I'm not sure I buy it for these weapons; now it would be different if we had truly exotic weapons like Whips and Chains and maybe two headed weapons.

Re: Exotic weapons.
I have a homebrew rule that allows PCs to start with exotic weapon proficiency if, and only if, they would have already had martial proficiency and they give it up. AKA, if your background provided training in an exotic weapons type, great, but that means the normal stuff is exoitx for you now.

Re: Exotic weapons.
That seems quite a neat rule; difficult to implement in NWN2 though, I would have thought.
