Tsidkenu wrote:After hearing of the arrival of several diseased adventurers, Priestess Aeili immediately sprang into action. She found the trio recovering in the Temple of Tyr and insisted that they transfer to quarantine in the Temple of Ilmater for special observation. Even the Ilmateri register of patients had been filled out properly. A report was left for both the duty nurses and the temple priests.

The following was recorded in the register of patients.

First Name: Amano
Surname: Hime
Age: 28
Occupation: Adventurer
Next of Kin: N/A
Place of Residence: N/A
First Name: Alcarin
Surname: N/A
Age: 23
Occupation: Songstress
Next of Kin: Elrie'wien of Doron Amar
Place of Residence: Friendly Arm Inn
First Name: Faye
Surname: De'Lynne
Age: N/A
Occupation: Priestess of Tyr
Next of Kin: N/A
Place of Residence: Temple of Tyr.
The following report was left for the nurses and temple priests.
Disease Quarantine Incident Report
Date: 9th of Tarsakh.
Patients: Three, female. Refer to register.

The three adventurers were battling sickly trolls and undead in the Troll Claws, not far from the settlement of Kraak Helzak. They reported some kind of dust cloud which was present in the Troll Claw Hills which they breathed in which may have been a contributing factor.

Symptoms: Intense fatigue, aches and pain over the whole body, accompanied by muscular weakness. Reported vomiting of worms or maggots, followed by shortness of breath.

Treatments: They were administered initial curatives by the druidess Onna'Evatril in the hills before they made their way to the farmlands of Baldur's Gate, after which they entered the Temple of Tyr.

The three were cured by a Paladin of Tyr and transferred at my insistence to the Temple of Ilmater for quarantine and observation. Patients treated with a lavender and olive leaf extract aromatic baths to keep their heads clear and extremities clean of disease.

Discharge Orders: Patients are to bathe twice per day with five drops of olive leaf extract added in order to avoid potential spread.

Visitors permitted, but only medical staff permitted within 5 feet of patients.

No restrictions on food or beverage intake.

Discharge after three days if no further symptoms develop.

Signed,
Priestess Aeili
Temple of Mystra.
Ameris would review these patients at least twice a day, when arriving and leaving the temple. Three days after these patients were transferred, Ameris would conduct a final review and determine if there have been further symptoms or not. He would conduct a thorough examination and then discharge them if nothing amiss was seen.

During their time in the temple their clothing would have been washed and blessed, as would their bodies.

Night after night, Ameris returns to the temple having acquired a demeanor and a smell as foul as each other. After the third occasion, the young man has become intrigued and concerned enough that he determines to inquire as to what burden the man of Ilmater has taken upon himself, and whether he might be able to walk with him in it.
Ameris would smile apologetically and draw the missionary aside. "We should talk privately brother."

He would invite the man to head up to the private meeting room upstairs.

kleomenes wrote:Another step is added to Ameris' daily routine. Either before he leaves for the temple in the morning, or before he arrives back at Pathfinder's Hall at night, or at some point during the day (but usually before or after his quick afternoon visit), the priest dons his armour and heads off in the direction of the nearest sewer entrance. He would invite any of the other defenders of Pathfinder's Hall to accompany him, if they were available. He would emerge from the sewer some time later having wandered the tunnels beneath the east gate, and cleanse himself in the Temple; disgruntled a little, perhaps.

Ameris is joined in a patrol of the sewers by Brother Sigma, as well as Knight Commander Eldarian Al'maire, Vendor Xon and Tarina Mazir. The group enters the sewers in the East Gate district, near to the Temple of Ilmater.

They spend much time patrolling the sewers under the East Gate district for anything unusual with Ameris, at least, wearing true seeing magic as part of the search. A side goal is to supress any violent cuthroats encountered, who might be plaguing the rumoured poor population that has taken up residence in the sewers. Indeed, another goal is to identify if there are indeed any poor or sick residing in the sewers, so that Brother Sigma can work on bringing Ilmatari charity to them.

After the sweep of the East Gate sewers, they head into the palace district sewers. From there, they find a tunnel down...

They emerge from the depths some time later, covered in the filth of the sewers, the Dawnknight wearing a vexed expression.

Following trips into the sewers, the priest Ameris paces, troubled deeply. He pens a letter which is left for the other Ilmatari; he approaches others of the Adorned to speak on matters of faith.

Mi-Le stops in to inform the temple that the Lathanderite and Candlekeep Seeker known as Alexandra Keenan intends to scribe a copy of his journal for Candlekeep's collection. She will most likely be visiting the temple of Ilmater more than once in order to do this.

Just to be sure, he asks, "Will this be a problem for the temple?"

Ameris would smile as he responded, although its clear the priest seems rushed off his feet, as if preparing for some great effort.

"Not at all, she will be most welcome. The lady has been doing sterling service aiding the children in Pathfinder's Hall with their letters. We cannot promise quiet, it must be said, although perhaps she can use the private areas upstairs if she needs such. I shall welcome her myself, if able."

Ameris pauses.

"Speaking of Pathfinder's Hall, I recall a certain eastern monk who encouraged that particular project, caused it in fact...I wonder if he might be able to lend a hand with counselling and seeing to physical and mental well being for the children, as I might have to step away for three or four days on an urgent matter."

He gives Mi-Le, the monk from the east, a pointed look.

Mi-Le's smile slowly broadens, and then he chuckles. "I am sure that the eastern monk would be glad to lend a hand however he can. May I ask what schedule the children have been following recently? When can I meet them?"

"Well that is good to hear." Ameris grins. "I have somewhere upstairs the draft of the note I circulated to the Pathfinders. Come upstairs and I will show it to you."

Ameris would head upstairs then, and dig through old correspondence, chatting away as he does so. "We have been quite busy. Three dozen children, more or less. One has left for the Temple of Mystra, another is due to take a short trip to the Song of Morning and we are intending to move another in."

The note is presented. (((PM Sent!)))

"I do morning and evening prayers, and take morning and evening meals with the children when I can. I attend the afternoon group sessions providing there is not an emergency in the infirmary. Its then I ask the children of their emotional well being and examine for any physical ailments. You may find you want to be present at other times within the schedule."

He lets Mi-Le read the note before answering about meeting the children.

The soft creak of the heavy wooden door betrayed her presence as the petite woman slid quietly into the temple. Crossing the length of the main room she kept to herself, quiet and somewhat withdrawn. As she made her way to the kitchen counter, she informed the woman within that the cakes were intended as "A gift from the Last Anchor and DragonWing crew to those of and visiting th' temple". Shed' send her best to Ameris and his wife, and politely take her leave.

A few days after her initial conversation with Mi-Le, the aforementioned scholar, tutor, and all-around busy young woman steps into the humble holy place after her daily duties alongside Sir Aaron Lyonaler at Pathfinders' Hall have concluded. She offers a kind smile towards anyone who might be within the foyer of the building, and a slender hand gestures towards the nearby bookcase where Mi-Le's writings are kept. "Fair day," she pleasantly greets. "My name is Alexandra Keenan, and I am here on behalf of Candlekeep to scribe copies of the journals kept by Mister Mi-Le. I asked him to make mention that I would be coming here for such a purpose. Is there a place where I can work, or shall I just use the table here?"

After posing the cordial question, the young woman patiently awaits an answer.

Brother Sigma's celestial songs of praise and daily prayers in the chapel may or may not have been noticed as absent from the Temple for some time now.

The bright eyed priest has descended into the darkness of the sewers at the recommendation of Adorned Brother Ameris to minister to the displaced. He surfaces scarcely, only to resupply his medicines, and when he does he is not as ready with a grin or with the warmth that is typical of him. There is a grimness of determination and perhaps, for the perceptive, a sense that the youth is overwhelmed by the sorrows of the afflicted - the reality of their conditions is surely sobering.

Ameris is within the temple, with a faintly hurried air about him. Indeed he is packing a bag on the dining table in the main hall, chatting with Sister Adolina.

"Miss Alexandra, welcome." He smiles in welcoming manner, and bows to the woman in a courtly fashion. "We had heard that you would attend for this purpose."

He rubs his bare head after the bow; his skullcap lying on the table next to a recently opened letter bearing a broken seal of Tyr on it. "You catch me a little out of breath. I shall be away for a few days. Please do see you your business here though. If you wish, make use of the desk upstairs, for some peace and quiet"

He smiles then. "Mi-Le's writings have brought me great comfort over the months. Indeed where I feel able I am guided by them; and where I am not able, then they help me define my own beliefs."

He would move over and retrieve the journal, to hand it to Alexandra.

"Shall I show you up? And would you like some tea?"

The young woman offers a pleasantly apologetic smile towards Ameris as she accepts the offered book. "Again, gratitude, but it would appear that you are soon to depart, and I have no wish to keep you. Besides..."
DM Arrakeen wrote:Sister Adolina chuckles at the hurriedly packing priest, then offers a cup of tea and a honeycake to the young Seeker.
"...it appears that I am set for refreshments." Alexandra gratefully smiles and dips her blonde head towards Sister Adolina. "Fare you well, Brother Santraeger! I wish you success on your journey."

Once farewells have been exchanged, she tucks the notebook under an arm so that she can tote the cup of tea and tasty treat up the stairs. When comfortably settled in the quiet private room, she neatly arranges her scribing materials and begins the first of the many hours that it will take to complete her work.
