Well, new language update seems to partially work, except for one thing.

It allows you to select language you already have.
Meaning, if you, say, know undercommon, log in, and language chooser window pops up, it will have "undercommon" as a choice, and you'll be able to pick it again.

That means that language chooser window does not check if language is already known.... or does not add known languages as "selected" buttons.

However, I can live with this kind of a minor glitch. It is way better than being unable to save language choice.

Subject: SERVER UPDATES
Duster47 wrote:Part 2:
- Dimension Door, Shadow Jump: range extended to medium.
- Languages: Chatting no longer defaults to first language.
- Language maintenance, final stages.
- DC calculation maintenance, on-going refinements.
- Epic spell DC tweaks, on going.
- DMs now able to permanently rename PCs.
- Rolled back mmorpg-spawner script to last week's version - should be less rats and more creatures.

Note on languages: My own testing I got "t^a^l^k l^i^k^e t^h^i^s". Saying something in each language, log-out/log-in cleared it up.

The language selection window upon log-in is gone now at least, thank goodness. My main character is still missing two of his original languages though. Anyone else have the same issue?
There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

One of my chars does have one too few. Others do have far too many languages.

Language translator seems to translate also emotes or ooc.

Example:
Elven selected
Chat screen: im amilla quylaan amelwamelv ae aey amelairaw ane ceen ilmeylw. ^lasecala^
((Though in logs it appears as which might be the reason: im amilla quylaan amelwamelv ae aey amelairaw ane ceen ilmeylw. ^<ny^=tyeln^>lasecala^</ny^>))
Translation: I was just wondering if you wished to look around. <C=pink>smiles</C>

smiles was typed as *smiles*

( sorry appeared as ^( laemma

This is with the flavor text on. Seems fine without it.

Always worked this way. Fixing that would be fdifficult, and I'd recommend not to fix it.

It used to allow stuff between asterisks to show w/o translation. I'd use it for proper nouns and stuff.

It does, but only with flavor text off.

Pun-Pun attempted to give me some missing languages. I ended up with a language called "Nwscript," so I'm thinking that something somewhere remains borked. :)

Just had my languages reset on Saetra. I as a wizard got Common, as well as Arcane and Draconic as bonus languages (I assume Draconic is a bonus language for wizards now?). Then it only allowed me to select 1 additional language. This is despite the fact I had a +4 Int bonus at level 1. I'm assuming that Arcane and Draconic, despite being bonus languages, are counting against the known language amount.

Hi, unfortunately races that don't have any kind of + / - intelligence modifier currently don't get their intelligence taken into account when checked for language eligibility. The point you're seeing is actually the background/regional language point that was previously granted by DMs on approved biographies. It gets added to all PCs without checking for intelligence.
