Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
A player reported that the bags were spawning underground? this seems akin to the bug when you reduce the size of a creature too much.

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
Mobs still disappear with the loot on them.
I think the sparkly VFX should be removed and that mobs with loot shouldn't despawn until the loot is taken off them or until it's been a full five minutes. Or make them drop bones or some such as a replacement of the old loot bags.
Stay safe, don't fight and loot!

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
I might be old, tired and so set in my ways that I cannot handle the slightest bit of change—or not—but the new loot-the-dead-body-on-the-ground is confusing as hell for me.
I can never tell when a body is lootable, or not. I often stand around waiting for hours, HOURS!!!—just kidding—but I do stand around waiting to see if that dead body will show up with a vfx, or not. So I often check each body and then get the *this corpse has to gold or items* response.
And then, there are corpses the drop immediately have the effect, but my empirical experience the last week is that they are fewer than before, I mean, fewer than when a loot bad was dropped.
I do like the corpse idea, but I do not like that you have a short limit of time before the corpse will disappear. I do like the idea of skeletons instead of the vfx or a loot bag. It would be funny as hell to come to an area littered with skeletons!! Then the Forum posts of "Clean up your skeletons you lazy sumnabitches!" would have a special, new ring to them.
I gotta say, a few loot bags left here and there was much nicer to deal with visually than a crap ton of glowy blue sparkly light piles all over an area after the Grind Command has swarmed through the Area.
Are there any other options for "containers" to be left when the mobs die?

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
Yeah I brought this up myself with staff yesterday. So officially to let you all know, I do intend to revert the bodies back to the way they always were (dropping loot bags)
I've recently been playing and noticed myself how annoying it can be to watch a potential good loot drop fade away before you can get to it quick enough (even if decay times were extended).
Lots of spawns to go through again, so I promise I'll get it done within a week, as well as add any new spawns mentioned in this post:

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
By the way, spawns will drop loot just as often as they always have, this didn't get changed.
Currently, the second a creature dies, look near its feet and if you see the glowing VFX (that used to surround a loot bag) then they have loot on them. Sometimes though, this is hard to see (especially on giants and large creature models).
Simply click on a spawn after you kill it and if it tells you "creature has no items or gold" then it didn't have any loot and never would have.
If you are unsure, click on it anyway. You can usually check a creature and stay in melee combat without incurring attacks of opportunity, I suppose because of the 5 feet rule.
Either way, all this will go back to loot bags, like it used to.

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
I think I mentioned this in the bug thread. From observation what causes it is if a corpse is not looted within a (fairly short) time frame. I'm only getting it when I am attacked by several creatures at once and don't have time to loot the corpse straight away.tfunke wrote:I've noticed loot VFX's everywhere and I am not sure what's causing it. Are some corpses unlootable, or are loot VFX's been left over after looting?
Can anyone tell me there experience with this?

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
I have actually been fixing this as I see it by using the destroy placeables tool. It removes the VFX and spawns the loot bag. I think the actual bug is that a creature dies and it triggers a loot drop but the bag doesn't appear. By destroying the VFX the loot bag appears. Perhaps there is a way to get around this issue given that information. IDK I just work here.
The only reason I bother to fix it is because I figure that also reduces strain on the server.. So for the other DMs.. maybe do the same?

Re: Loot VFX's everywhere?
There should be less of this. This morning's update reverted a bunch of creatures to use the old, SOP loot-drop bags.
