It would actually be fun if guilds cooperated ooc'ly like that, even when they have Ic conflicts. Example: "What if we attack your guild hall, and you guys defend. All out with the PC-forces we have. Winner gets to occupy for a few days, maybe draw mustages on a few paintings etc". If there was that kind of initiative, id take my hat off to those people and let my coam-over blow in salute for such outstanding attitudes.
Totally agree. Would be awesome to see that taking place, and without requiring DM oversight to happen, ie, simple good sportsmanship, and the chance for simple bragging rights...for few days! 8-)

Guild Hall take over, non-DM sanctioned, or without established guilds tacit support = NO!

Creation of a PvP Fort Zone where players can moved into knowing KOS is in effect, that groups can move to take control of said Fort and attempt to control it, I think can offer PvPers something and Rpers something.

We just need mature players to be able to pull that off ;)

You're describing mutliplayer arena games like dota.

The notion of stealing guild halls is quite interesting in the hypothetical sense. Realistically speaking, however, it is a whole other matter. The amount of red tape to cut through, as well as the potential for OOC disaster when it comes to the idea of invading/stealing a guild hall seems overwhelmingly daunting to me.

Here are the two main issues/causes for concern as I see it:

1. The spontaneous/organic nature of any hypothetical Guild hall take-over is nearly impossible to pull off in an environment that caters towards fair play.

I say this because many characters in guilds often reside in the guild hall itself. Players on the other hand do not reside in-game on a full-time basis.

As such, ample OOC warning would need to be given so that those characters in question would be allowed to log on and defend themselves, and not be godmodded, quite literally, to death. Warning a guild ahead of time OOC'ly of an impending attack is, of course, metagaming the encounter, as it presents the defenders with an opportunity to prepare for something they had no idea was coming. Even if the knowledge of an attack is gleaned in-character, there is still the logistical nightmare of trying to arrange a time when members of the invading and defending guilds can log on and pummel each other in what would otherwise be(or at least need to be, due to the presence of Guild NPC's**) a DM sanctioned PvP affair(which is, in itself, immensely taboo).

Considering all of the above, any legitimate guild hall take-over would ultimately require consent and planning from both parties, as well as DM supervision/oversight, but most of all: trust between players. I suspect that there are very few guilds, players, or DM's that would be interested in participating in something that, at best, lacks any and all immersion and requires copious amounts of meta-info sharing to organize, and at worst invites the possibility of irresponsible behavior and potentially the next several months worth of dealing with the OOC aftermath.

2. (**) The responsibility and involvement of Guild hall NPC's in combat would fall to the DM's.

This is, quite possibly, the single biggest reason the notion of guild hall take-overs will never manifest on the server. While I can't speak for the DM's, I see no reason why any sane DM would, or ever should, put themselves in a position where they actively side with any guild, and thus put themselves at risk to become targets to anti-favoritism sentiment or cries of corruption.

----

I humbly suggest that the proponents of this idea take a moment to think things through a little more thoroughly, and consider the perspectives of all the players and DM's in the equation.

Last year i put in a request that is kind of related to this and it was actually accepted but didnt go beyond the planning stage because i didnt have the time anymore due to RL and also one of the guilds involved wasn't as active anymore.

One of the two guilds had an item in their guildhall which my character wanted to steal so the plan was to let an opposing guild in and conceal my theft with this attack. The DM who did the plotline was up for it after i got the ok from the guild leader of the attacked guild. PvP was also a possibility although not during the actual attack but the aftermath.

So i suppose it is possible to attack guildhalls (was, maybe?) and such but to permanently take them over probably not. IMO how it should be when it comes to active guilds.

A while ago there was a thread about unused guildhalls turned into dungeons which i think would be awesome. I wonder if the Staff ever discussed that?

Edit: Going through the PMs back then there were quite a few conditions on this which i could post here if the Staff is ok with it? For example permastrikes would have been given out to fallen PCs of the attacking guild and some other things

I am describing an aspect of that game, that is correct.
It is not incompatible with the arrangement of this server in my estimate.
I do not play such games, so I do not know.
I have only seen tutorials for Neverwinter and ESO, which describe such scenarios.
