If only we could have something that is a staff when wielded by small races and a club when wielded by anything larger. That would do the trick!

Something similar like the 'flail', a staff with the 'club' weapontype.

Wouldn't those staffs make the reserve feats entirely pointless ?

They aren't already?

The only purpose I've ever heard is for arcane tricksters and sneak attack on invisible needle...they've lost a bit of popularity dove the dispel fix, but as Tsid pointed out, reserve feat can ally sneak attack, staff can't.

I suppose if a player was going to burn a feast on reserve this might change their minds, but that only prevents them making a less optimized build decision...the only reason I've heard for reserve feats (aside from sneak attack) is RP and if that's the case they'll take the feat any way.

Maybe make the splinter thorn and ice dart staff cast at CL 7 so you can get the extra darts? The scorcher staff at CL6 is fine as it can do 3d8 to multiple targets.
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

How about magic missile staves? The visual effect is very nice and it is a classic spell. Maybe even make it an epic item (avernus shop) depending on the number of missiles (CL).

I kept them at 6 because I thought it was the most balanced. I could change the fire one to a different spell? But I thought it most appropriate.. Thoughts?

I actually already made these and they are in the game!

I know of them, but I was thinking about stronger versions.

I believe one could take a club, call it "halfling staff" and assign magical property to it. Any class should be able to wield a club, afaik.

Failing that there should be a universal weapon type (spoons belong to those)

75k is completely unaffordable for a character until they reach level 12+

The point being that the only people this staff helps are people throwing cash on Alts otherwise by the time a player can afford it, they've pretty much outgrown it's usefulness.

Better in my opinion to make them a RP reward for Joining a mage faction - thay / candlekeep / sshamath schools etc.
