I can't quite tell whether you only gain one dodge AC from this, or if you gain one dodge AC for every attack lost. Has anyone messed around with this one? There's a potential difference of 8AC here depending on how it works, so knowing if the dodge AC scales with attacks lost is rather important.Type of Feat: General / Fighter [Style]
Prerequisite: DEX 13
Use: Selected (mode)
You limit yourself to three attacks per round, your damage increases by one for every attack lost, and you gain one dodge AC.

Athktatlan Triparite
In my never ending quest to force myself to RCR my only epic level character with more ideas, and due to recent threads, I decided to read through the combat style feats. Athktatlan Triparite caught my eye, but the description for it isn't particularly clear to me.

I tested a while back and it was one ac per attack lost.

Well now, that certainly makes it an interesting feat then! Thanks for the information.

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
It's based on BAB, if you have 26+ BAB you get +3 AC and lose 3 attacks, 21 BAB you lose 2 and gain +2 AC, etc. It is dodge AC.

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
Oh. How does it handle dual wielding then? Does it ignore the second weapon, giving you two attacks at your highest AB and one from the next lowest, while only giving +3 AC at 26+ BAB?

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
Valefort has it right.
It ignores your offhand and doesn't effect the attacks made with it, so, for example, you could still reach 6 attacks with GTWF, making it a nice defensive option for two-weapon fighting characters, as the three attacks you lose on the mainhand are the low AB ones.
(Flurry, Haste and other similar effects also grants you more than three attacks with it on)

2nd weapon is ignored... as an aside Sembian fencing stacks, so you get 2 apr but all the benefits of both modes.

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
The second weapon is completely ignored then? It doesn't get any damage bonus or anything?
Definitely an interesting piece of information to know though, thanks for the help everyone. If I might make the suggestion perhaps this detail should be added to applicable feats on the wiki.

Back in December it looks like Valefort stated that they don't stack. Could we get a final word on this? Thanks!chad878262 wrote:2nd weapon is ignored... as an aside Sembian fencing stacks, so you get 2 apr but all the benefits of both modes.

Start a single player game in the module, make a character, level it (there are tools inside the module to do that easily), take the feat and look how it works.

Not sure about the code, but would be interested in hearing if you doing anything out. I might be able to test tomorrow myself, but I went and checked the old posts and unless something was changed you could activate both modes and get both bonuses as of April. Not sure why the modes shouldn't stack, in any case...

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
So, a single handed 6 apr build using Athktatlan Triparite will reduce their attacks to the 3 highest BAB attacks, gain +3 Dodge AC and +3 DMG. Does anyone know off-hand (lol...) what damage type Ath. Tri. gives?
And just as a off-the-wall question: if you had a 6 apr build, one-handed fighting, and only 4d6 Sneak Attack, would you choose Feint feat or Ath. Tri.? I'm on the fence now, because through Feint would provide an average of 12 x3 dmg per round if a Feint is successful, that in only if the mob isn't immune...and we also know how a Feinter must have sky high Bluff to actually make it work around here. And Ath. Tri. gives some nice Dodge AC bump!

Re: Athktatlan Triparite
I had done an exhaustive search of the forums on Sembian Fencing before committing to the feat in game. During this research I got the impression from Endelyon that JEGS should not be relied upon.Valefort wrote:Download JEGS viewtopic.php?f=64&t=49324
So after reading this and stuff like the "code says no stacking," I got the feeling only one of these was meant to be active at any given time. With Sembian you trade attacks for AB DEX and Tumble. With Athktatlan you trade attacks for Dodge and Damage. In my mind I suppose it made sense that the code says they don't stack, otherwise you would sort of be getting Dodge and Damage for free.Endelyon wrote:2. You can only have one mode activated at a time. JEGS is very outdated so try not to rely on it generally until we get a new version out.
But I see JEGS has been updated since these old posts. So I guess it's safe to assume JEGS and the live server are in agreement and they currently reflect how these feats are intended to work? So I can safely base build decisions on how they currently work in JEGS?
