On the upside they no longer petryfy themselves when you move past them and they use their fiercest glare.
*sighs* i always loved being slightly fearful of running through there without invis because of it. It made it great! Got the adrenaline pumping!
this cheeses me off.

1: there are lots of builds with counters to basilisks, those who take the steadfast fortitude which guarantees no critical failures, and those who can cast protection from petrification. sneakers and invisibilty potions make the quest easy.

2: the basilisk quest gives massive xp *and* gold (if you cry or pass a bluff check)

just like sneaks being removed, it was done to cater to those who make awesome hack and slash builds, but then get disappointed when their builds fail in one or two choice dungeons or areas.

can we have the undead deurger in the underdarks crit immunity taken away so sneaks can backstab them then? of course not.

since lore says not all basilisks petrify, there should at least be boss spawns that do. afterall, you are in the heart of their home, stealing their eggs. if your summon gets petrified, you are aa caster or scroll user... ..so bring or memorize stone to flesh, ffs. dont complain about it. (although i think fire and air elementals should be immune to petrify)

it would be nice if potions of mirrored eyes dropped in loot. (but not sold in stores) that way, if your build has no defenses against basilisks, you could still find a potion or buy one at auction to do the quest... ..but youll have to wait to find one, or risk becoming art when trying to steal their eggs.

finally... the basilisk levels could really use a couple of statues of adventurers who didnt do so well. i always thought that was cool touch in the baldurs gate basilisk area.
