Midichlorians...
Even if this whole garbage storyline was made in order to erase Midichlorians, which I would otherwise fully support since THAT was just as big of garbage as anything, it still is crap.

Trying to wipe crap away with crap, is just a larger mess of crap you need to clean up. Have you ever tried to clean crap with crap? It gets EVERYWHERE!

But the thing is, if people or kids eat this crap up—and it seems they are doing so because their standards are being pushed lower and lower based on exposure...or lack of it—then I guess Disney is on the right track.

It was a missed opportunity, and simply said, it is said to see.

I didn't bother to read this thread... I simply cant stand to read any more Star Wars "fans" wailing over shattered expectations/pre-conceptions that didn't materialize, or over-analyzing and trying to apply scientific theory to a movie that is about space wizards.

Instead, I'll just leave this here...

it is really odd about snoke he was in the epic 7 and in epic 8 he die really the most powerfull force wielders and he sould be older then Yoda couse he was 900 years old sould know about him and so only the Sith was the most powerfull force wielders of them all ,Ill been told that force can regeneration what if well we dont know what happine to darth plagueis bodie we know he was kill in he's sleep but where did the bodie go ? What if Darth Sidious keep he's bodie lock up couse he know that he's bodie with many Midichlorians that vil regeneration him so when Darth Sidious die the plagueis was release from his prison couse one found him and then all begens

On a side note... why does Rey manage to wield the force without training like most? Cause she is clearly a Sorceror. ;)

Hey man, that's perfectly fine. If you enjoyed the movie for what it was, that's your business. It's a perfectly fine winter action flick.

But for me, who grew up over the last twenty years with the original movies and the games, the books, the comics, what Disney is doing to characters that I've known for most of my childhood and adult life matters. And if I, or others like me, think some of the stuff they're doing to a world that occupied so much of our childhood is bullshit we'll make our opinion known.

And to quote a pretty decent article linked above that I did read:
Disney’s third attempt at a Star Wars movie is handicapped by a storytelling attempt best defined by a popular term which begins with “cluster.” Launched in Episode VII under the dubious helm of J.J. Abrams — whose skill set as revealed by the Star Trek reboots entails gleefully destroying and scribbling over other people’s beloved IP and iconography — we got a lazy retread of Episode IV, featuring cost-effective millennial actors packaged in irritating “mystery boxes,” plus a bewilderingly mean attitude toward cherished old characters — whose conclusive victory in Episode VI is hereby trashed. Gosh, striding out of Return of the Jedi in 1983, I just couldn’t wait to wait for over three decades to watch Han, Leia, and Luke grow apart, fail miserably, and die. Thanks!

Ever heard of the term "internal-consistency"?

That is what we mean when we speak of realism. A movie set in our world must adhere to an internal consistency that we ourselves experience. A movie set in another world must adhere to the internal consistency it or its predecessors presented us with, or build organically on past foundations that we feel to make sense - while it is possible to shatter foundations, it should only be done with care and only, and I mean only, if it is plot-critical i.e.: Shadows of Esteren setting presenting you with realistic gothic-medieval style setting with few hints at myths and fantasies getting torn to pieces once you delve into the true reality behind the illusion you believed to be the reality (or other Lovecraftian themed works).

am I the only one that got a little excited when they were looking for the safe cracker code breaker dude, thinking.. Boba Fett.
kinda happy they diddnt bring him back, probably would have had him without his helm too much and ruin it.

luke skywalker dusts his shoulder off... *facepalm*

kamikaze ships can kill everything? not a good message

so they made luke an impulsive whiney baby overpowered jedi.. isnt that what he always was? it was always Darth vadar with the most interesting plot anyways

Rey cant just be a random overpowered jedi, they claimed her parents were nothing but I have a hunch theres more reason to her being able to use so much force powers.

when fynn was flying into the giant wall breaker cannon, started to think they were just kamakazing everyone

I'm pretty sure legends had kamikazing ships creating supernova like explosions.

My theory is that Rey is the granddaughter of the sarlacc pitt. Everyone knows the sarlacc pitt is omnipotent.

Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr sort of did the same. More so Jaden, who could do advanced telekinesis with high lightsaber without any training.

the massive misconception i am seeing here is that lore was broken. no it hasnt. because luke is not what you want him to be does not mean he is upsetting lore. THIS IS LORE. tv shows and comics and novellas and anything else hold no more lore than fan-fic does to the marvel universe. i also think that perhaps we are trying to make sense of a complex story before it has laid itself out to us. something like watching just an hour of pulp fiction and making a whole from it.
