Personally, If i want to have a tell conversation with someone- i don't need others to know/assume what i'm doing.

It has been mentioned a few times, yeah:

No, this is entirely the point. I want people to know that I've typed a message after I do so and hit enter, and not a moment before then. I'm 'manually' opting out right now by exclusively using the CE to type, but that's annoying and it would be nice if I didn't have to.

Having to see all sorts of floating dots is dumb, be the core of the issue is controlling the information being put forward about what you're doing.
You can use the W channel/tab in chat ingame to use it without dots showing up. If you don't use /w in the W channel, you will still say things normally and not as a whisper.

I don't feel strongly either way about it. There will be people that'll love it for helping you realise someone's actually RPing with you and then those that will think this makes the game more of a chatroom than "realistic representation of roleplay". I can get behind both statements.

I think making a function so that people can choose whether they want to use the dots or not will be an excellent idea. Roleplaying standards differ for each person, after all.

Seriously all this feature needs is a switch on and off and I'd consider it 100% success rather than 80-20 or what have you. Maybe inquire with the author? After all screens could do with the clean aesthetic and it's a peace of mind when not interacting.

Hi Endelyon...it doens't look like the dots are transparent at all...and actually quite large!

It definitely allows a cadence and progression of dialogue that simulates the actual thing. Sometimes I feel like it's possible to have two conversations at the same time with one character. The bubbles are a bit meh however. I think I will get used to it and gun to my head I would keep it rather than do away with it. If the actual characters could appear to be talking via emote style while typing that would be very nice! It's just when I see bubbles I automatically think about the bubbles in discord or when texting. The function is necessary, but the visuals are out of place.

Montleberry wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 3:43 pm I am not sure why, but I get a sort of social anxiety feeling now in conversations from the dots. After a few days of it I find I really don't care for it, as I find it makes it harder for me to talk to people. They are distracting to me, I am more seeing dots all over than feeling engaged in the conversation I am having. It almost feel like I am watching and being prompted by the dots, or the ones I am making, than engaging in organic conversations. I find them awkward and uncomfortable. Just my opinion on them. Obviously if more people find them helpful and like them they should stay, but I am definitely someone who doesn't care for them.
^^^ This right here for me. I found the actual experience with them really unpleasant because of this. If the whisper channel prevents the dots from showing up, then I may as well go all whisper all the time. I don't want to see them on my head, I don't want to see them all over the damn server turning an immersive RP experience into a glorified chat room (yes, I know, that's what we are but there is absolutely zero reason to beat people over the head with it).

As for size and opacity, if this is a feature that is going to end up staying, BOTH of these things need altered, pretty quickly. For starters, they're huge. And I'm not sure what opacity they're set at, but they're not showing up as anything but what appears to be 100% opacity. IF these god awful things have to stay, then please, please diminish their impact on the surrounding.

Zoom out, and you won't really notice it.

For someone that types slow and spells poorly like myself, I feel that the dots would at least let people know that I am typing. I find them very helpful.

I spend more time reading the text box (both what I'm typing and what others have typed) than staring at three dots above players heads. Barely notice them.

Endelyon wrote: Fri Dec 14, 2018 2:29 amAs stated multiple times, you can just change to the "W" channel to suppress it without using the CE.
You have to do this every time you area transition in order for it to work, so I don't really consider this a legitimate solution.

My brief experience so far makes me think this leads to a better flow in the RP, so we should definitely keep it!

Another downside to the dots I discovered is that they ruin screenshots :| I'm not so sure if they can be made to be hidden with the 'hide interface' button. Guess we'll have to shout out "Stop typing, taking some screenshots!" OOC every once in a while.

I liked them. It Minimizes those awkward momments when a fast typing chatterbox like my myself experiences when your not sure if they are responding or not....or maybe are afk.

Right now I focus on the dots too much and not the rest of the game, but I suspect that will pass.

But if there was a way to remove it when we are sending tells or replies...that would be nice.

Thx for the dots.
