yes, when you use the item it places the creature back down on the ground in its stone form. Although it does not keep whatever pose it was in when you trapped it, it reverts to its default standing pose.

Idk where you got those numbers but. "(hill giant)Adults are about 10-1/2 feet tall and weigh about 1,100 pounds." Either was wasn't my point. I'm sure we can scale statues to fit weight scaling based on the size of the creature. 1k for large, 2k for huge, 200 medium, 80 or so for small. Something like that. The idea that some one carrying a giant statue as being completely immersion breaking considering the ridiculous amount some one can already carry with ease as a simple human was my point.AlwaysSummer Day wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 8:09 amSure, but an 8 strength wizard cannot carry 1500 lbs. A normal hill giant weighs 1400 before being turned into stone. Frost Giants weigh 2800. To hell with it though my fire genasi Frost mage of grumbar will have three.Zethrenx99 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:19 pmYou might be playing the wrong setting then as humans can carry over 1400 lbs on their back and be fine >.> Not to mention the literal armory people have in their backpacks.AlwaysSummer Day wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 10:20 pm I really dislike this. People walking around with literal giants in their pockets is extremely immersion breaking for me.
As an asside, drag weight in D&D is something like 4x or 8x maximum. So, they can drag several giant statues. "A character can generally push or drag along the ground as much as five times his or her maximum load. Favorable conditions can double these numbers, and bad circumstances can reduce them to one-half or less."

I stand by my statement that it is far more immersion breaking visibly seeing someone pull a litterally giant out of their butt an set it down than not seeing a barbarian have a maximum carry weight of 1400lbs but it being on a character sheet or at worst in an inventory.
Not sure why my singular voice in opposition to this has illicited such an argument against my mere opinion. It's not like I can stop this from going in game.

I wasn't referring to you chambo.
I'd like to see differing weights for creatures. Giant/dragons/ogres/trolls etc being all but impossible to carry. Human sized creatures weighing maybe 300~ (they're stone after all). Smaller creatures maybe 50? Tiny creatures considerably less?

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
Whether it matters or not, I think any petrified creature dog-size or larger, would be realistically impossible to carry.
Petrifying Characters/mobs of Humanoid/medium size is pretty darn reality breaking mechanics. So I really wonder why this should be possible...unless we're going to have exceptions for some mechanics, and not for others...to which, I ask you powers-that-be to set some sort of Standard.
Cheers.

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
There is a spell in PnP called shrink object that could be used on a petrified creature I believe. Other instances where it would be possible through RP means and represented mechanically is group effort, using a sled, ext. The way people moved massive marble statues back in the day. Another off the top of my head is a dragon PC or winter wolf PC, these massive creatures could easily drag around some one's statue realistically. (as realistic as a magical creature dragging a magically enchanted creature that was converted to stone would be). Horned devils, polymorphed frost giant, hill giant, troll ect.Steve wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 3:58 pm Whether it matters or not, I think any petrified creature dog-size or larger, would be realistically impossible to carry.

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
The first thing we're told, for playing on this Server, is that we shall limit our experience to the mechanics available in-game, unless a DM is present to allow for additional aspects of the D&D world to be applied (for example, no spells not mechanically available are actually available, to our Characters).
Thus, sure, adding 550 lbs to a petrified PC is at least a better realistic aspect to this new mechanic. But it still ain't a think you'd be putting in your backpack! Dragging something would surely impose another negative modifier, like...no combat possible, for example.
I know, I know...fantasy game.

Featherweight
reduce person
Pocket dimension
I think there are more powerful variations of these spells but yes, with DM supervision you could make it work. It actually does add some fun RP elements to the game. When I say this I am thinking of a wizard who keeps a reduced size tiny creature in his pocket only to Dominate and stone to flesh when he wants to use it for something. Maybe an Imp or something. Not a dragon which you can take into the FAI with you (you know they will).

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
Eh, I guess I’m with the OP on one specific thing- of all the things need worked on and developed, why is it this one seemed to be the most important? Yeah sure, it’s a cute idea but if Chambo is right about being unable to use it on PCs the actual FUNCTIONAL aspect of it- I.e. picking up a petrified player and moving them, say, away from the basilisks- is not possible.
Which, at this point, means that about all it’s going to be really good for is filling up the ORH yard full of chicken statues. Over and over and over and over and over again....

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
The spell can only be cast on hostile targets So you cant use it on NPC's or animals and the like. It also kills players here as per the server rules. But it does allow you to do things like... collect a bandit and leave it on the road as a warning. Capture a dragon to give to your partner as a gift xD
I rather like it. its fun and im sure i could find a way to put it in to my characters RP

It.. Was a joke.. Raivan also isn't really looking forward to the idea of being turned into a statue either.. It was more intended as a way to lighten a very dark scenario...DiceyCZ wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 4:43 am Just reading through the comments there's one thing worth mentioning probably...seems people don't realy get that flesh to stone is not paralysis but a COMPLETE tissue fossilization. So nothing works including your brain until the magic is reserved, while I suspect this could technically work as suspended animation, the stone can't be "chipped off from around the person" and you probably shouldn't feel or remember anything that happened to you....just a little sidenote, sorry![]()

Re: Picking up petrified creatures?
Well.. obviously if you are dragging someone, you would just.. let them go and start fighting.. Should be fine to do that.. Stones can also weigh more or less depending on what they are made of.. but even then.. seems some are a bit off on their idea of how much a human would weigh as a stone..Steve wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 5:42 pm The first thing we're told, for playing on this Server, is that we shall limit our experience to the mechanics available in-game, unless a DM is present to allow for additional aspects of the D&D world to be applied (for example, no spells not mechanically available are actually available, to our Characters).

I know, I know...fantasy game.![]()
The average weight of a sandstone boulder is approximately 150 pounds per cubic foot. Limestone boulders and granite boulders in most cases weigh more. They average about 175 pounds per cubic foot. Humans on average are 2.3 cubic feet. Which puts an average human body, is stone, weighing between 345-402 lbs.. (156-182 KG).. There are plenty of humans irl that can drag that around.. Not to mention our fantasy world where plenty should be able to toss it around like a softball... There are lighter stones than that though.. But we can also reduce it further.. the spell says it is a Petrifaction.. And that is entirely different than actually turning something into a rock and wouldn't increase the weight as much as if it were turned into pure stone... But that is just sorta an idea and even if debunked doesn't change that.. 400 lbs isn't much weight to any str based character and is even carriable by many dex based characters, at least draggable by most dex based characters.. PnP rules, 10 being the average Joe strength, they can carry 100 pounds and drag 500 pounds... So there should... really be no issue here..
