BG Appearance

Unread post by Camera9 »

Hi guys :)

I recently saw the new BG appearances for clothes. Some of them are really nice but they include a lot of exposed skin which has a very dark colour that can't match even the darkest skin's colour available for tieflings in the character creation menu.

Is there a way to change the colour of the naked skin for these appearances? Also is it possible to change the character's skin in game after creation?

Thanks a lot in advance ^_^

^ If you mean the pitch black leg under the slitted skirt, there? I just kind of assumed that there were leggings on the outfit as part of the server's rating.

Working on re-tints. Some tints like the one mentioned above were done on purpose because while many know how to properly play with their barbies.... some don't. ;)

There were some issues with the color used in the map and the way the changer perceived them. If one day upon logging in your character's armor's randomly change color.. this means the map was adjusted. Hopefully for the better.

So how exactly did you change the visible skin into this white tone? :o
I only get a very dark tone on these appearance's skin! You instead matched it perfectly with your charachter's skin...

How?

I finally found the answer, guys ^^

Basically the appearance adapts itself based on the character's skin colour that you choose in the character's creation menu.
If you choose a light skin you'll get a light skin on the appearance. Same goes with a dark skin.

Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions :D

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll semi-hijack this one... :?

How difficult would it be to fix this? :

Image

It looks like the index and middle fingers are getting stuck behind the staff, and the other fingers aren't gripping it. No idea where the thumb is.
I don't know if this is a race specific glitch thing, the character is an elf.

My gnome sorcerers hands seems fine:

I think these are specific to the model of the staff, tbh. Artorias has the same problem on some models, but that specific one you have in your gnome doesn't.

it's relative to the hands you have !

I know it's a "lapalissade" but there are many models of hands and the first thing needed to correct the problem is to know which hands must be corrected. Then when we have found the hands, maybe it's too much work !

I explain, hands are very difficult to rig correctly. You must adjust the mesh so that each finger are around the corresponding bones, and it's not easy. For some hands, there is so much work, that's it's better to discard them.

A picture being better than a speach, here is an armor I am porting to NWN2, and the original hands from NWN2 : I must put all fingers from the new armor at the position of games finger ... all that without distorting too much the mesh and the link with the arm :

So it's perhaps a not full satisfying response, but if changing the hands resolve the problem, it will be preferable

Could this be a gloves appearance issue? I have gloves on my elf, but I changed them to look like normal hands. If it's a hand model issue, and it turns into a lot of work, I'd rather no-one spent a lot of time on it. It's hardly noticeable, and if it's a chore to fix then I can live with it ;)

Yes it's the hand model, that's what I said, but sorry if my english was not clear enough.

When you modify the appearance in the appearance changer, you modify the model (mesh and texture) used.

I understood what you meant Krighaur, my character also uses the naked hand, must be this one that's slightly off. But as snarfy said no big issue.

I find the fact that long hair has so incredibly many clipping issues more irritating but I just switched to shorter hair XD.

For long hair, you must know that NWN2 has no "physic", like Skyrim has, which allow hairs, but also clothes and body to have more realistic move (physic modelize gravity).

The only tool we have is that there are 3 bones for ponytails which allow some move in the hair behind the skull.

For the hairs on shoulders and on breast you must trick the game engine somewhat. For example you can link the breast's hairs with the breast bone, but it must be progressive, otherwise your hairs are "zig zag" when they move.

With the actual knowledge of the game, modders are able to make more "supple" hairs, but most hair model from the servers are old .
