To me it seems this change was aimed at Favored Souls
Is there not a better way to nerf them without nerfing clerics so hard?
Even game play wise it's not fun knowing that you won't be benefiting from Greater Heroism or bard songs

It simply brings in line with Tenser's transformation, while still keeping it WAAAAAY better.

You get to cast spells still.

It's not that big of a nerf, heroism and bard songs last longer. So if it's really an issue, just don't waste spell slots preparing divine power and enjoy the longer duration of what the bards offer?.

It's at the very least a -5 ab nerf to clerics who often go for casting. It would be best to nerf clerics and favored souls who have easy access to divine might separately imo.

If the issue is people using scrolls then perhaps make it scale through CL?

Anyways, my main issue is that this screws with your spellbook.

8 from Divine might; + 5 from greater magic weapon; +3 from divine favor; +3; Prayer +1 and then +1 from prayer and +1 from aid means 22 ab,
already above the cap

I was unaware we put sonic immunity items into the mod. Or as a buff to existing gear. ;). Oh we did not or did? Confused.

Main issue it’s the way it’s been abused in the past for me.

If you want to keep Clerics empowered, and even to empower DC based FvSs, then add to the new formula + WIS modifier.

Thus:

AB increase equal to 1/4 hit dice + WIS mod.

I think the issue really is clerics and favored souls achieving the same as fighters while still having an array of other ability's and spells. Can't really see my cleric noticing this change all that much, it's not going to stop you from doing pve content.

I've personally never liked the BAB aspect, since it essentially nullifies the purpose of fighter based /high BAB classes that, in most cases, are not progressing casting abilities.

Anyway, with AB buffs having a cap, there really is only so much one needs to nerf.

Yep - my friends at the Golden Wheel are selling a helm with 10% sonic immunity right now. Better bid up on that!

If you'd be so kind as to direct me to the melee immunity spells similar to silence and energy immunity, or even a 10% physical damage attribute, that'd be swell.

What this change does is taking away 1 (maybe 2 attacks if you have a weird build) and grants you AB instead of BAB.

It surely does bother your spell selection, but it's done so that clerics and favoured souls aren't fighters on steroids, even though you could argue that them having to buff up for 2 minutes is quite a bit of a drawback on them, still.

And yes, the AB bonuses will go beyond the cap, so the +AB spell selection has to be arranged properly when buffing up (or not buffing up, because others may do everything for you. Common thing I've found on my DC Cleric. I just stick around and do nothing while melee'ers and archers kill everything :D)

IF you're a fighter and wear heavy armor you'll have an inbuilt 20% damage resist to all elements and sonic.

Is there no better way to nerf that instead of using the ab cap limit? This kinda ends up turning into a noob trap as well if the player does not know that the ab limit exists and it's not fun knowing that you will not benefit from greater heroism or bard songs as well as making prayer redundant.


Here is my suggestion:
Make Divine Power CL based so it can't be abused via scrolls and potions
Nerf Divine Might instead because pretty much all melee builds end up taking it.
This way you aren't screwing over caster clerics nor making spells redundant.

Sonic immunty Greater Stoneskin nor Sanctuary is not ready at hand or on items for many builds and to almost any non caster build.
