There are some treasure rooms or areas- like in the case of the Balor and/or dragons- that are decorated to look like a horde even though you can’t reasonably give players a horde for visiting the area.
It’s the balance between RP and the economics of a PW. I’d hate to lose the look of a dragon’s horde just because there is some rule that all chest props and gold pole props must give a reward. In that case it- in my opinion- takes away from the RP of the scene.
As for better rewards, since the rebalance the chance of finding epic gear has increased greatly. This is not a theory. It’s the reality of how it was coded.
One problem, both in terms of this and a long tin player base, it that many epic items like +4 weapons and armor just aren’t worth that much anymore. I can’t sell +4 stuff for close to what I used to sell plain +3 gear.
It’s a closed system. If everybody gets richer faster and gets more epic gear faster then pretty soon gold is meaningless and most items lose their value completely.
Upping rewards is complicated and can have long term negative consequences.

Gold is useless in servers where do not have an outlet to spend REGARDLESS if you get rich fast or slow. Without mmorpg economics and durability, you are sitting on gold. I had the same discussion in Dalelands. NWN2 problem is that it has no endgame mechanic. You don’t have to raid, the market is limited on what you can buy, there is no durability, you don’t pay taxes, and you don’t lose money when you die. Another thing is, if you make the gold in take too slow and players will burn out. Repetition can lead to boredom as the you have to adventure the same places to make money especially with the new mechanic making good treasures appeared on level to keep higher levels out of low leve areas. So this not only narrows down how much you can make but narrows down where you can get make your fortunes at. The higher the level, the lower income, which is a reverse incentive.

The "end game" on a role playing server (which this is) is the completion of your story. In whatever form that takes. The rest of it is the backdrop for that story, the stage for the telling, and tools to help you immerse yourself in the setting.
I do agree that more things to spend gold on would be good, and we have one coming up (player housing). Additional tools that require a buy in or a gold sink would be helpful as well, but so to would alternative ways to earn gold and advance your character... but it'll never be an mmo.. I hope.

Still not sure. No idea what your level and build is.
Honestly, try to find a group. That's your best bet in doing anything in game anyway. Even just a single partner of any class and similar level can be a game changer in terms of hitting areas you might not want to solo.
Also, YYJ was onto something about the troll caves. There are regularly spawning yellows that always drop loot. Some of it quite good.

RCR, invest in sleight of hand, get some gear to raise it even higher. Stand around by a merchant all day. Not even being facetious. I'm RCR into a cleric due to what I noted above about protections. Sleight of the Hand goes against my lawful nature (Plus I have 3 levels of a rogue) and my character was a knight (by title) in his order. He could go appraiser, but he doesn't have enough Skill point even human with 14 Int. (Primarily Strength character) Spot, UMD, Tumble, Heal, and Spellcraft.

Endgame is what the game has to offer after the completion of the game, regardless if its a server or module/official campaign. That's not an opinion, but fact. RP is not an endgame since you can RP before reaching game and your backstory can be forged prior to endgame. You can continue to RP to build your character's future long after you reach endgame. No one is saying this server or any server has to be an MMOPRG, but NWN2 was not designed with endgame, which is why you cannot continue the game after you beat it. Even in an RP server, the objective is to get stuff so you can survive in-game. DM events are not one size fits all and I give praise to DMs as I acknowledge that is it very difficult to include others in their events. I love RP, but RP doesn't pay for thing I need as adventuring provides more than RP. Thus, players find themselves more focusing on adventuring than RP until endgame. I wish this wasn't the case, but it happens. Another driving force is the server difficult, which is based on forcing players to rely on other classes to make it through. No one saying it has to be an all solo server, but it only makes one set of classes more favorable towards the other. (Spellcasters class can magic away their problems whereas Melee class cannot)

one of the largest concerns on the server currently, is that we promote inclusion in words, but it isnt being backed up as well as it could be, and should be, with mechanics
there should be more areas to adventure, which is being worked on, but understandably takes time to implement
more areas need to be added in all level ranges, and each set up differently, for all build types to succeed. some of these new areas need to be party-based, while others need to be solo-based
the reasons have been stated, but to reiterate, RL time available to play, character build, character rp, others online, or not online, when you are, and just the simple reason that we promote inclusion and diversity, meaning accepting numerous styles of play, which include, different types of rp, different types of adventuring, and different types of characters/character builds
