Just a little RP tip, something to help define your PC and to have a goto RP during times you "Don't know what to say"
Don't be afraid to throw a couple of chat emotes and macros to give yourself a little RP flare or something to fall back on. A good example is my Dwarven wizard has 2 "emotes" that I use whenever I don't know how to fill that gap in the RP when people might be talking but not directly to me.
Pulls out a wooden pipe and packs it full of something.
Depending on the way the RP is going if it's just casual RP I sometimes make the following Emote
His pipe explodes with sparks and smoke.Oi wrong pouch! Pats his beard out as the air around smells of burnt hair.
But if it's more serious or if I don't want to Interrupt the RP at had I just Emote
Puff lightly on his pipeweed, blowing out thick clouds of smoke.
Other fun ways to use this if during Combat or Grinding/Running a dungeon you can do emotes like,
Kneels down and quickly checks for Tracks/Traps.
Find something your PC could do often and use that Niche habit to build your RP up. The list is never-ending from Adjusting your glasses to braiding your hair. Comb out your beard and so much more. Find ways to tie it in with something your PC would like to talk about or that little niche you specialize in. Polish your holy symbol if you want people to know the God you worship, tune your lute if you are a bard, clean those lockpicks if you are a "Locksmith".
Don't be afraid to make it fun! I personally feel that it's the little things that help bring your PC to life and fill those voids of "I'm at the campfire again and don't know what to say!" I hope this helps at least one person elevate their RP!
