Rumors & Events of Soubar

A Scene would unfold in Soubar’s commerce area just a day earlier. Rumors would place Amos Thistle and a man called Jarl Mcsteele at the centre of the scene.

“A business deal turned sour” Some would say.

“Perhaps the man should know when to hold his tongue” Others would voice.

Whatever the case the man known as Jarl Mcsteele was killed after attempting to throw a punch at the Military leader of the Order of the Blackrose. The mans body was dragged away by the garrison soldiers and delivered to Fort Prominence and word would be spread that anyone looking for his body could pick it up there.

A ceremony took place in Soubar today, atop the rocky hill south of the market. There, a witch and a priest called to Malar, the Lord of Beasts, to consecrate the hill to prepare it for the building of a shrine. The carcass of a stag, previously slain in a sacred hunt, was given as sacrifice in the Hunter's name.

So spoke the witch, "We call you, Malar, Master of the Hunt, Lord of Beasts, the Black-Blooded One! Behold our sacrifice, Wild Hunter! Hunted and tracked, run down by my hands! I have tasted its blood, and I offer that blood to you! We seek your honor, Lord of Fang and Claw! Mark this site, bless it with your scent, so that we might build a shrine worthy of your magnificence! Grant us your power and ferocity, Great Hunter, so that we might survive our trials and succeed in our hunts."

Then the priest, "Tonight is a night of glory, for the Hunt our Witch organised was a success! Malar! Bless this ground for it becomes one devoted to you! Bless this ground so that your pack may, fortified in faith, bear fruit to your Hunt!"



The witch then offered the remains of the carcass to the town. The heart would go to Malar himself. The rest of the meat would go to the werewolves of Soubar - who were working to assist in the consecration and building of the shrine - and, if anything remained, to the villagers of Soubar.

The ceremony ended then, but things turned violent afterwards. A large-horned tiefling threw a firebomb onto the hill, injuring the priest and possibly ruining the meat (and the consecration). The witch tried to retaliate, but was shot down by an unknown second assailant. She survived, and werewolves and militia quickly filled the scene, but the two attackers escaped.

The Halls of Inner Light welcomes one and all to the Grand Revel of Lliira, a litany on the Joybringer's dogma followed by celebration, feasts, drinks. All are welcome, be you rich or poor, Lost or lonely souls, the shunned or even a foe! To the people of Soubar! A great feast comes at this week's end, to mark the passing of the harvest season and to prepare for the coming cold months. All are welcome, none shall be turned away. No fee is demanded, but we will accept donations and offerings in honor of the Hunter, whose bounty feeds us.

The Hunt of Soubar also puts out a call for bards and troubadours to grace this event with song.

Raalkir Nym, was last seen seven days ago leaving the East Gate of Baldur's Gate. Her intention was to explore the Reaching Woods to the North.

She is a middle aged woman, slim figure, standing five and a half feet tall. She is a Red Wizard of Thay therefor she will have the distiguishing characteristics of a noble Thayan. Red robes, shaved head, many tattoos.

There will be a reward for valid and reliable information that leads to the location of Raalkir Nym whereabouts or location of her body.

If her body is discovered please to not tamper with the scene if can be helped.

The Malarite Feast of the Stags began in Soubar today, welcoming townsfolk and guests from all over, including several adventurers. The Feast celebrates the Highharvestide and prepares the feasters for the harsh winter months to come.

Prayers were spoken at the start and an hour into the event, speaking of thanks to Malar and a promise to hunt for the old, sick, and orphan of Soubar.

"Oh Malar! Beastlord! Great Hunter!," came the first prayer, before a lidded platter. "We thank you for these gifts you have provided, for blessing our hunts! The first helping belongs to you!"

The lid was opened, and a stag's heart was revealed. It was tossed into the fire, where its ashes could go on to feed the Beastlord.

"May your strength sustain us as we partake of your bounty. Fill us with your essence, give us the cunning to succeed in our future hunts."

The feast then began, and even Mag of the Winding Way tavern chose to partake. The food consisted of venison, pork, fish and bird, hunted and donated by the Malarites, werewolves, and other independent hunters, as well as stew, bread, vegetables, beer, and wine, provided by local cooks, bakers, farmers, and brewers. Music was provided as well by Jonah Vixerius and various local bards.



Later came the second prayer, which spoke, "Thank you Malar, Lord of the Hunt, for the food you have provided us. May you bless us in our hunts as the season turns dark and cold. We pledge to support our elders and the sick in this time, and children without mothers or fathers. They are weak in body but strong in spirit, and we, as those strong in body, choose to gift them the opportunity to survive another winter. But though the Hunter provides them with food, it is their responsibility to survive the rigors of Disease and Death through the power of their own will — that is their quarry, their hunt."

This feast will continue for as long as food remains. Eat your fill, and remember to whom is owed thanks for this meal."

The adventurers would leave some time later, but the residents of Soubar and the surrounding lands would continue to feast for the next two days, until the event ended or the food ran out.

[Order of Blackrose]

Soubar's first residential House has been completed and its residents are none other then wererats.

Rumors have it that more Houses are scheduled to be build in the near future along with cobble stone roads and a new sanitation systems throughout the town.
With these new building projects in the works and the increase in commerce over the last few years Soubar's future is seemingly bright.

All the time busy underground, the small drow woman had no room to walk around. All her plans, to engage travellers with a song or even orchestrating poetry challenge were side brushed by events. But at the very least, she could take a short stroll around.

She just took a turn around the rock, when spotting old friend Sirion moving on the bridge. He glowed with magic. But this was not purpose of her visit, and so she pressed on. Suddenly a spell shot up, flying towards her.
"Is the elf attacking her?" flashed in mind of woman. She stopped in place and raised hands. "Sirion, what are you doing?!" shouted. Suddenly eyes caught up onto the movement. Moonlight fell upon a drow man. White hair flowed in air, as he pursuited the elf furiously.

Once again, the young woman gave to her impulses. Hand drew blade and the other pulled shield from back. The distance seemed as endless, when she charged downhill. Suddenly, the drow man turned. "Urfindur, the headhunter," shot across mind of favored soul but was too late. The brief memory of man from years ago came too late, as warrior spinned in place, scimitar raised high. Massive impact crushed into small body. Mithral armour moanned, but did not give in. Breath left lungs of drow woman and face turned pale instant. She just trembled forth, when scimitar slashed again, this time across shoulder. Armour held, but bones not. She would scream, but could not draw the breath already. The bones inside shattered, crushed, and pain sent her mind into oblivion. Small body turnt and collapsed.

Man did not waste time, launched himself after the mage again. In time the warrior came back and to his shock, figured he cut down a drow woman. Kneeling over her, in quilt and grief, once hood pulled off. He poured potion into mounth of woman, to find out what's happening.
The potion brought her back to senses. She stared at Headhunter leaning over herself. He began to question the priestly woman, while she quickly figured her chances. Either someone or Sirion come back and draw him off. With body still paralised mostly from pain, as she did not feel her arm with shield, and barely recognised own fingers still grippping the sword, drowess began to play for time.

"How dare you! I am the important messenger! Get me up and immedietly return home before you do more hurt!" she snapped off when man said he attacked her by mistake, trying to abuse his confusion. She put all effort into the play capable. But this time her game failed. Perhaps the visible difference between her and common drow women were too great, or the fact she charged him began to settle in, or was too weakened to persuade him, he suddenly grinned.
"Now, tell me who you are..." the threath in voice firm, and clear. He could not finish. Spells flashed brightly in darkness, maybe an arrow passed around him in the moonlight. Urfindur growled, tossed her aside, and gave chase. She felt the regenerative cloak slowly giving her chance to do a small move. Woman rolled over and dipped into divine powers. Bright life engulfed her body, restoring the bones, sealing the wounds. Still shocked, she pulled up...shamefuly fleeing. There was little to be done, but gather help...Any of it.

A patrol of members of the Radiant Heart and Halls of Inner Light passed through the Boarskyre Bridge. Upon arriving they were met by two Drow out "Hunting" on the surface. Briefly after battle ensured, leaving one Drow fallen and the other fled. One member of the patrol fell but was soon recovered.

//This is an account of several happenings over the last few weeks.

For the last few weeks, an masked trio consisting of two women and a man had become a common sight in the Winding Way tavern where they paid for stay, which extended for weeks.

Not long after their first arrival, the taller of the two women was seen making demands of a mute tiefling, outside the tavern. The tiefling didn't take to kindly but the situation was resolved peacefully. The day after, the male was seen in the company of the same tiefling as if trying to communicate with her. The interaction seemed friendly.

The man seemed to come and go without a set schedule while the two women remained for the most part. They seemed to meet with a few different people while they stayed. A woman in suit of armor bearing a unicorn shield as well as a male elf, besides interacting with a few other patrons on occasion.

One night, the woman with the unicorn shield, the man in black leather and the shorter woman with a green hood left Soubar heading south, returning just before dawn.

The trio met a very tired looking red headed human woman in front of the Tavern one day. The man eventually retired, leaving the two women with the human. Shortly after another masked woman came to them in distress. She warned them of ongoing trouble in Boarskyr bridge about a drow attacking people. The 4 women left Soubar to see what was going on, returning later that day.

A few days later following what seemed like a sudden argument that sparked in the tavern. The taller woman, who was in the company of the black clad man slapped the elf, who in reaction, flash froze her attacker for a brief moment. Before the tavern guards could react to the situation, the tall woman drank a potion and disappeared from sight. The elven woman seemed to apologize profusely, seemingly only having reacted in panic. The man in turn drank another potion and ran out the door as if giving chase. After this, no one would be too sure of what happened, but the man, then looking somewhat worse for wear, was seen leaving Soubar and heading south. He seemed to carry the unconscious taller woman in his arms in what seemed like a rather protective manner. The elven lady, also seeming worse for wear would have been seen leaving on her own sometime after.

Much later that evening. The other woman, in the green hood, accompanied by the lady with the unicorn shield seemed to be looking for the two. The too left Soubar before sunrise.

It's been several days since and none have been seen in Soubar since.

A gathering of the Gray Ones?

A sign has been constructed, paradoxically within Soubar itself, inviting all followers and Clergy of Myrkul to a gathering at the lawless town to take place two days before the 'Day the Dead are most With Us.' A gathering meant to allow the followers of the Lord of Bones to discuss how best the disparate faithful could organize to enact Myrkul's will within the sword coast. In addition the sign offered fresh converts and newly ordained clergy assistance, should they come to Soubar to seek out it's maker.

In place of a signature was a glyph of a skeletal hand, reaching out of a well.
