Agents & Adventurers of the Lords' Alliance [RP Thread]

The Lords' Alliance, also known as the Council of Lords, is a partnership of merchant cities founded in 1325 DR. This organization was formed to oppose the black networks and other sinister factions that seek to dominate the North and the Sword Coast, through trade or treachery. The Lords' Alliance represents interests of cities such as Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, Elturel, Berdusk and other free cities and towns.

Agents of the Alliance include sophisticated bards, zealous paladins, talented sorcerers, and grizzled warriors. They are chosen primarily for their loyalty and then trained in observation, stealth, innuendo, and combat. Backed by the wealthy and the privileged, they carry quality equipment (often disguised to appear common), and spellcasters tend to have a large number of scrolls with communication spells.

The Alliance has a history of hiring adventurers, both to raid sinister factions' strongholds and to scout out sources of black network activity. Local adventuring groups with an interest in combating evil have quickly gained status and valuable contacts by their association with the Lords' Alliance, and just as quickly made enemies because of it. The Alliance pays these groups in information, travel arrangements, and masterwork items, as well as in cold, hard gold.

OOC Information:
Compiling….compiling….

There is a Lords' Alliance channel on the BGTSCC DM Screen Discord: https://discord.gg/38gBXpzwNx

Context:
These “agents & adventurers” are t be considered a Faction, at least at this time, and not a Guild proper. The idea is that all existing individuals, groups, guilds and also other factions, that would swear an allegiance to the ethics and/or dogma of the Lords’ Alliance, would work together in whatever loose/firm capacity the player(s) involved would see fit.

Additionally, this then Faction of agents & adventurers of the Lords’s Alliance are set and spread among the cities, towns and villages north to south of the Sword Coast, and east to west along the river Chionthar (and slightly more). Thus this Faction operates alongside yet independently of any one point of civilization, holding above the Lords’ Alliance ethics interpretation—or orders…—above any one interest, say for example, that of the Dukes of Baldur’s Gate.

Currently, there is no point-of-contact NPC, better NPCs, but it is desired to “unlock” this power up over time and Role-play.

PC contacts may already be apparent, or become apparent through IG/Forum role-play, and perhaps in the future, players will decide to make an OOC list for general/specific contact, both IC and OOC.

A formal faction would not really make much sense IC though and would be very NPC intensive if it somehow made sense IC, so wouldn't be a great balanced use of DMing resources right now.

Feel free to try it out as an initiative! It could be helpful from a DMing perspective too, yes.//

A few local factions, affiliated and or not with the Lords' Alliance, did meet within the edifice within the Harbor District bearing said name.

Many high dignitaries, high clergy and even some lower merchants were seen entering the Lords' Alliance building in the Harbor District the last day—there was little fanfare, but likely each individuals escorts were enough to cause some stir in the area.

Any with knowledge and experience of the Ducal Court would likely recognize the faces as they entered...however, quickly moving to a private meeting room, the meaning of the meeting was impossible to know. Though...it all occurred under the roof of the Lords' Alliance.

War!

The time for subtle planning is over. Their goal is now clear: These cities of the Lord’s Alliance march on Darkhold.
Agents and Adventures enter the Lords’ Alliance Tower in the Harbor District of the city of Baldur’s Gate, soon after the news from the North and East arrives by indirect channels.

There appears to be a general high tension around those passing in and out the tower gates. None can say whether this is because of the surprise call to war for said agents and adventurers, or because of effect said war may have on the fragile, uncertain economy in recovery that has dominated the Gate for the recent half-year.

No Evil shall remain Unchallenged - 25th Mirtul 1358

(MUSIC)

As the news spread of the violent and merciless attacks on the farms and caravans of the Lords Alliance, many more join the war to defend the innocents.

It is said that reputable adventuring groups are being hired in all the cities and towns of the Western Heartlands to help the Lords Alliance defend their caravans and farming communities.

Many seem to join as volunteers, priests, paladins and do gooders from the region gather to offer their swords. Disgusted and saddened by the recent atrocities.

The Church of Chauntea makes itself particularly vocal about the loss of so many innocent farmers with their families, and the consequent destruction of their precious and bountiful lands. Meanwhile, the Church of Tempus declares its profound disgust for the recent display of so called dishonourable warfare and tactics aimed to target the weak and defenseless.

With the aid of many, the Alliance prepares to defend itself from any further attacks and raids.
