The mages and other scholars and wizards of the city start to frequent the temple, the new object of the city’s trust being something of a spectacle to the magical community.

As night fell, it's embrace reached out coldly for the temple of Ilmater, lead by a evil that entered the city silently and approached the peaceful temple. There was no warning, the enemy never before being seen or his existence known, he stalked forward towards his goal only to be stopped by a single maimed knight.
Darkness fell upon the quiet corner, no alarm being raised. The patrolling guard even avoiding the area out of the rising dread, although he refused to give voice to the feeling. The two came together and a shield was raised in defense of the temple as the darkness attacked. The walls along the street smoldered, the stones of the street cracked and gave way under the assault. Yet the shield did not yield and the attack could no progress against the temple, his armor smoldering, dents and rents appeared in the steel, his sword quaked as if caught in a gale. . .yet the shield did not turn aside. In the end it was a game of swords and the protector was launched against the wall of the temple after the briefest of exchanges. The darkness returned again, only to be stopped again by a unarmed servant of Torm.
As this second defender, the street was changed suddenly. . .Father Marcus and Templar Khalso 'appeared', one guarding the door and the other beside the now standing knight.
The enemy advanced again, assured in his power. Only to find his match against a silver sword. The combatants fought across and down the length of the street, blows landing with the sound of thunder and the impacts further damaging the street and surrounding buildings. Silver crashed against Greensteel, righteous wrath against vile greed, but in this class celestia's champion would not be denied. No defense held ground against him, no sword was more then a vain defense, armor parted like flesh, evil prowess were empty threats, until he was brought down to the feet of his foe.
""By the grace of the Holy Triad. The justice of the Maimed God, the Sacrifice of the Broken, and the Loyalty of the Fury. Chosen of the Lord of Murder, your time has come."" A spoken phrase that carried the weight of judgement and a descending blade.
"Behold, Ser Alexander Holgart, The Even Handed." Was the only remark made by Father Marcus, before he vanished as quickly as he appeared.
Word circles around that the Merchant's League isn't fairing well due to the past three years' ever-present threat to the city, which disrupted trade considerably. Lord Aldeth Sashenstar, head of the House Sashenstar and owner of the business, has been seen in presence of several, notable trade guild owners- people he kept at arm's length at all times before.
It's rumoured that Lord Sashenstar is thinking of selling the Merchant's League and its assets in order to save the family fortune for his, yet still missing, nephew and heir to the family fortune. Many presume Dabron, Aldeth's nephew, is dead but the Lord himself has never lost faith in him.
Yesterday, upon an evening hour, a sizeable group of citizens have gathered in some manner of protest- voicing their outrage, discontent and fear at how none of the monster attacks and other threats which weren't prevented or even, indeed, dispersed by the Flaming Fist that are sworn to protect them. They were chanting for Grand Duke Eltan to come out and explain himself for this, as well as asking questions whether or not the Grand Dukes even care about their lives anymore.
The crowd was joined by various adventurers and temple representatives of Baldur's Gate and, in the end, it dispersed after the burning anger was doused by members of Halls of Inner Light and Triadic Temples.
Nevertheless, the word of what has happened is spreading quickly and the people of Baldur's Gate seem to be emboldened by that event to go further and proclaim their views and discontent more openly.
Baldur's Gate faces a new kind of an issue, all of a sudden. Those that haven't been keeping watch on the matters of trade are shocked to notice that all prices for various materials or products have dramatically risen or dropped abysmally low. Word spreads through the city that it's the effect of the wars and threats that Baldur's Gate had been facing lately, from the outside as well as from the inside. Across the Wide and other places where traders dwell, it's said that fewer and fewer merchants are deciding to make their travel to Baldur's Gate due to a much-heightened threat to people's lives.
This comes as a hit to the Balduran economy, as several shops and peddling merchants - smaller businesses in other words - face what may just be the end of their existence in Baldur's Gate. While the city still makes vast amounts of coin thanks to the mercenary work of the Flaming Fist, many citizens worry that they'll soon be going out of jobs and lose the sources of income for their families.
In other words, the atmosphere in Baldur's Gate had worsened even more.
- Prices for food are at an all-time high due to contaminated wells, long winter and a particularly harsh storm earlier this year that has destroyed several barns.
- For Arms and Armour, the prices have been lowered due to the rise of weapon production in the last years as a result of the Devil War, the demonic invasion and the Vampire Clan infighting. The market is bloated with silver weapons, cold iron weapons, magical steel and other wares that adventurers have been bringing in large amounts.
- The prices for minor magical items, such as potions, wands and scrolls have risen in their prices as the demand for such had spread further with past years. It is more common to see a citizen of Baldur's Gate with some manner of magical trinket than before.
- Various items of luxury, wine, textiles, exotic food, gems import and jewellery see an even higher rise in their prices than what can be usually expected. There's notably fewer foreign traders seen and selling their wares and the demand of the rich of the city had not lowered- quite the opposite. The problem is that the accessibility of such had become harder and harder as fewer merchants from South and North come to visit Baldur's Gate.
- Prices for ores, minerals and metals remain roughly the same, with the exception to iron, steel and alchemical silver. Those are facing a substantial loss in value.
- Wood and Wood Products - The market prices remain unchanged.
