Combat changes and rcr

Unread post by mrm3ntalist »

With the upcoming changes will it be possible to have a dm swap a feat that got changed ( ICE for example ) instead of going through an RCR?

If that is possible can this functionality be implemented to an npc on nexus so that no dm time is wasted?

I will be trying to offer reasonable swaps for people who don't want to RCR. No guarantees it will be viable in all cases, though.

What cases will not be viable? Old Hierophant builds ( WIS < 19 ) for example?

Guess that will be difficult, as removed feats are just gone from the sheet I would assume.
Who can say or count - how many feats a build really has/should have nowadays with everything adding feats to the list.

Another Suggestion:

Could the RCR-NPC get an additional option::
To delevel a char to lv1 and re-grant the removed XP again. Either full (if flagged) or percentual as usual.

That would save a lot of time for anyone, who would like to keep his current build, but is forced to RCR because of mechanical changes.

Me and Cheese just finished working on a way to populate a feat list with scripts, so that'll increase the options for allowing automated feat swaps for players going forwards. Main thing right now is figuring out a way to get the requirements you met at the level of the feat you're swapping (eg, no replacing an ICE you took at 12 for an epic feat because you're 30 now).

Can't do because there are exploits and bugs when doing this.

What would be the difference to using the XP remover?

having seen this on other servers, in my experience it doesn't always remove feats or stat increases correctly, and the person levling back up ends up with extra stats/feats.

If the XP remover works flawlessly, where is the problem then?

well, with the EXP remover you lose the exp. So I doubt a lvl 30 will be losing their exp back to lvl 1 in the chance they might bug out and get more than they should. - also who said exp remover works flawlessly

The exp remover has some checks baked in to block known issues. But it's designed for very limited use, dropping a level here and there because you made a mistake, not full rebuilding.

There's bound to be issues that aren't covered that would come up if we started mass removing levels and re-adding them.

If you have lost a feat due to the patch, you will now get to choose a replacement feat. This replacement feat comes with the caveats that it cannot require higher stats than the lost feat and it cannot be an epic feat. You will not need a DM or RCR to select a replacement feat.

This free feat is only for characters that are losing feats with no clear replacement (eg ICE, current Improved Knockdown, etc). You won't be able to swap feats that have simply changed (eg if you already have CE or Knockdown, you will receive the new versions of CE and Improved Knockdown).

So just to clarify for us cave people. If I took ICE as an epic feat, ill have to fully RCR? Unless I plan to replace the removed ICE with a non epic feat?

This sounds really good though, I have a bunch of characters id only change that one feat on as it is and dread the process of redoing everything else just for that.

Only if you want to replace it with an epic feat, yes. At present I do not have time to code in a way to check at exactly what level you took the feat.
