New Gear for Create Diversion based characters
Been experimenting with Create Diversion and I really like it, except that because of the available gear it's very difficult to get both bluff and hide high enough; even though my character has 33 in bluff, hide, and ms and skill focus in all three. Except for a hand-axe, no gear in-game boosts both bluff and stealth so if you have one high enough through gear the other is too low, at least for epic areas I've been trying it out in.
So I suggest the Shadow Thief Epic Clothing (an alternative to the ubiquitous ninja hood and ninja robe of stars)
Shadow Thief Hood (helmet)
Bonus Feat: Negotiator,
Enhancement Bonus Charisma +2
Enhancement Bonus Intelligence +2
Skill Bonus: Appraise +2,
Skill Bonus: Bluff +4,
Skill Bonus: Gather Information +2
Skill Bonus: Hide: +3,
Skill Bonus: Move Silently: +3
only useable by: Rogue, Guild Thief, Invisible Blade
Price: 385,000
Shadow Thief Tunic (AC 0 robes)
AC Bonus: Armor: +4,
Bonus Feat: Dash
Bonus Feat: Improved Critical (Dagger),
Bonus Feat: Stealthy,
Skill Bonus: Bluff +4,
Skill Bonus: Hide: +4,
Skill Bonus: Move Silently: +4
only useable by: Rogue, Guild Thief, Invisible Blade
Price: 425,000

The valuation of that should be almost doubled, if not tripled.

I dont think anyone current will entertain three feats on a piece of gear.

In his defense, Dash is mostly only useful to unlock PRCs... but yeah, I don't see either of these items being approved.Planehopper wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 3:57 pm I dont think anyone current will entertain three feats on a piece of gear.

Have you lovely persons looked at the stats and cost of the already existing Ninja Cowl and Ninja Robe? My suggested alternatives for Create Diversion characters are less powerful and more costly. Compare: The Ninja Cowl has FOUR feats, and the Robes three. Darkness, Poison, and bonus spell slots are feats.

Besides, it's my understanding that the suggestions thread, when it comes to items to be added to the game, is not a binary proposition. It's not "exactly this or nothing!". My proposal is the general idea of epic clothing that is similar to the ninja set but involves Hide, MS, and Bluff rather than the ninja's Hide, MS, and Disguise. If the specifics do not meet with the goals of the current administration then the current administration is invited to adjust them.Ninja Robe of Stars wrote: Robe

Yup, and thats what PH means with "I dont think anyone current will entertain three feats on a piece of gear". Current staff dislikes feats in items and theyre mostly a product of older staff, and Ninja stuff likely wouldn't fly nowadays.Flatted Fifth wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:11 am Have you lovely persons looked at the stats and cost of the already existing Ninja Cowl and Ninja Robe? Anyway, a way to add such items might be through a guild shop, could maybe look into that?

Re: New Gear for Create Diversion based characters
That's why my proposed items cost more and do less. If it's not enough of a nerf compared to the ninja set then I'd love to discuss with the team that makes such decisions how to make this idea of gear with stealth + bluff fly. This is meant to be a dialog, not a "Do exactly this" demand.
No, because this would need to be equally available to surface and UD characters, so I was thinking Terrens in the FAI and whoever his UD counterpart is.

Re: New Gear for Create Diversion based characters
18 seconds of Darkness and a DC11 [d2 DEX, d2 DEX] poison, both usable once per rest, are so inherently without merit that I shudder to consider under what sort of malaise the hood's creators were suffering when they decided to put them on it. (Unless they were just trying to pad the price, as I feel may be the case with a great many of the stats in the ninja set. Many of the skill boosts are arguably thematically appropriate, but have no real mechanical value.)
Similarly, because there isn't an actual assassin spellbook, the bonus spell slot is void. As for the shuriken feats... very few people use shurikens (except occasionally elemental shurikens to finish trolls off), and I don't expect they can pull a lot of extra value out by getting a few more shuriken crits. Their damage is abysmal, and their crits are 20/x2 (19-20/x2 with Improved Critical).
Meanwhile, each of your feats (except Dash, per my prior remark
) and skill boosts is uniquely tailored to the playstyle you want to support, and I imagine you've picked Improved Critical (Dagger) specifically to bolster your Invisible Blade.

Re: New Gear for Create Diversion based characters
You imagine incorrectly, and your assumption is a little insulting. Mine uses kukri and the Akromatic belt. I added Imp Crit Dagger just because there isn't any kit that I know of that offers that for the other invisible blade option. I don't think only of myself. In fact, because of the difficulty in getting both bluff and stealth high enough, even with skill focus feats, I will probably RCR my Create Diversion invis blade to a shadowdancer or assassin. I just think that CD is a cool mechanic and worth supporting in available kit so that not every rogue takes shadowdancer or assassin and we see more interesting and diverse rogue-ish characters.

Re: New Gear for Create Diversion based characters
If the team wants Create Diversion to be a viable alternative to assassins and shadowdancers, then there needs to be gear to support it and that gear needs to be at least as good as the ninja set or no one will use it or the mechanic.
